Citi presitge chances - application after rejection

Hi All,

After advice on re-applying for the Citi Prestige.  I applied a couple of months ago, and was declined due to 'insufficient credit references' or something similar.  They pulled Equifax.

I suspect that the reason I was initially declined is a problem in my Equifax file, as it wasn't coming up in Credit Karma, or Experian, however after I sent a letter to Equifax my scores suddenly started showing on both so I suspect they changed something (the letter I got was that they couldn't verify me and needed more info).

My current scores are EX755 and EQ751 and I currently have 4 accounts (3 in my name and one as an AU) with a total CL of $48k and usage of 2%, AAoA 12 months (no changes since I last applied).

I am safe to assume that the denial because of the issue with Equifax?  I've seen other accounts of people approved with fewer accounts/lower limits.  If so, when would I be safe to re-apply?

Thanks,

Luis

I would assume that you should be fine to apply again.

You stated "They pulled Equifax."  Do you have an inquiry showing on your credit report from Citi for that application, or (what I am assuming from the rest of your post) is it actually that they attempted to pull Equifax and due to whatever the previous issue was, you had no credit report?

I'd say go for it again now that your EQ is sorted out.

It's typical for them though to pull 2 reports on new apps and a single on HP CLI's.

Thanks for the reply.  I do see a HP on Equifax in CK, but don't see any other pulls from Citi in any other bureau.
