It doesn't COST anything to join. $5 is the minimum balance required to be a member so you can only draw the account down to $5. If you were to close the account they would give you your $5 back.

It doesn't cost anything to join but all credit unions I'm familiar with require a that a certain amount be left on deposit and unavailable. In this case it's $5.00 which you can get back upon closure of your account.
Gotcha. SFPCU actually gave me $25 to sign up, so I guess it confused me.

That's how it works with credit unions. The savings account establishes your credit union membership. The minimum balance required to keep the savings account open is not included in the available balance. You can get the $5 back if you leave NASA FCU.

What's weird is that I could have sworn that I put 50 in on the savings but maybe only the 0 submitted... it was approved, but it shows that I have -5 available. lol Nothing has come of it, and I don't think it's an issue so I'll just leave it be. Not really interested in trying to link an account right now since my credit card isn't linked to it, yet.
MIne said -5 until the transfer completed. It took about 4 days for completion.

Okie dokie. Nice to know.
Well from what I can see, the great approvals and CLs are still in full effect. I'm gonna try my luck towards the middle of the month when all my CC balances are showing PIF or at the most 10% or less ( and that's only on 1 CC). So my question is, which do you guys think is a better to app for, the Cash or the rewards CC? From what I gather you only get 2.25% once you've spent at least $2000 or more on the CC. Do you think the reward points are better, in your own opinions? If possible could you give some examples why you like 1 over the other? Thanks in advance!
Got for the Advatage-Rewards - lowest APR, which is all this card is good for other than utilization. The rewards program is gay.
