Should I worry them hitting me hard pull or cancel now? They soft pull but if it's taking 2-3 weeks I hope they use the same pull. I canceled my refinance loan already but kept the credit card and btw I have a hard inquiry yesterday from FNBO for a credit card I applied so if they do hard pull that will not be a good idea.

If you've gotten this far than what's the rush?  Just let the process take its course.  You can also contact them to check on the status since they're still kinda backed up.  My CC application took a couple weeks to process but I was aware of the delayed timeframe given how flooded they were with everything else going on at that point.

what do you mean far ? have not gotten anywhere. i got $5 in a savings i probably never get to touch. the reason i got the membership was to get the credit card. i have not gotten aywhere. anyone could applied without the membership. i didn't because i didn't want a hard inquiry. now the last thing i need is getting hit a hard inquiry anyway if they not get to me within 30 days. Not to mention seeing i have applied credit the same week. Im not rushing. I just don't want to push my luck. I hope all the documents i sent would expedite not delay it. We'll see.  i only sent my direct doposits straight from my bank account showing my balance as well but not my paystubs or w2. i sent them proof address and too.  Speaking rush, black friday coming and i would like to have it report before i ask credit limit increase on all my Synchrony Bank accounts. Good excuse to ask for credit limit increases Smiley Happy

When I meant far, I meant regarding the appoval of your membership.  NASA FCU doesn't move at lightning speed, sorry.  The inquiries (SP or HP) are up to them and as you've learned from other folks' anecdotes it tends to be SP for the most part (no guarantees though) - that's the risk you take when you apply.

Uploading the documents are just the beginning.  Please be sure to provide exactly what they asked for.  If they ask for paystubs, Tax Returns or W2s, your bank statements or direct deposits (AFAIK) will not be acceptable and this will delay the processing of your application.  Be sure to call them to make sure that they have what they need.  And as far as reporting, not ong ago the 1st wave of folks who applied toward the end of Sep just started seeing their accounts report.  Mine was funded on 10/2 and it is not on my CRs - perhaps on the next round so don't get your hopes up.  This is just how NASA FCU rolls.

Definitely upload your actual paystubs... they could get to it and then ask you to get the paystubs because that's what they asked for, they didn't give you an option for bank statements so then instead of approving and funding it, they will take another x amount of business days...... this day and age they want to make sure they're covered since there are so many federal regulations... NASA just happens to have more of an overlay than most

Re: Consider NASA...questions

To me, not so hard, or could be, depending on where I app.

For my credit union, to qualify my investment account, need to send in docs. Because I am retired, liquid investments in brokerage account count as income (since I drip the dividends into the shares, and I don't invest in anything without dividends).

However, because of social security, I have to reach a certain level of dividend income in order to file taxes. Right now, I divide my investment account according to how many years I want to use it, and add on to income (allowed under cfpb). But I haven't filed any tax returns yet. That may change next year, or the year after that, but I need a high level of return before its taxable under social security.

Which leaves us with state and federal letters for my income, and monthly statements from my brokerage account. But, no tax returns.

However, many online cc apps allow me to list whether the income is taxable or not, so I don't have too much problems with this. Not been fr'd once. If I REALLY want to bump the limit on my CU card, I would then give them this info. However, that card kinda sucks in the rewards department, and if I raise it to 1k for occasional airline tickets (they are cheap for those), until I get the arrival +, I THINK all is good.

CU's tend to be more conservative. I was firmly planted in the garden when NASA hit the airwaves in this forum. I kinda agreed that those big limits were too much to believe. Now, NASA has gone back to their regularly scheduled programming, being a conservative CU (just like mine has always been). They had a membership quota for 100k members, I think they met it.

they didnt ask me for anything yet. Usually they dont if your credit score along with your utilization rate is within range with no chage in your payment habits. Like if you paying $300-$500 for 5 months and all sudden $50. that would trigger it i think. If you pay only the min. payment that even worse.

For those who have been approved already for the credit cards at NASA do they notify and email you or you found out by periodically checking your status on their website ?

They notify via email with the extact information that they will require.  If you submitted something that was not requested, that just delays your application further.  The status doesn't change until they have received the acceptable docs for the next step in the process.

Two different departments I guess, I had to submit proof of residence, etc., to different people.
