I have the Amex Hilton Surpass card and my credit limit was $1K for the longest time. As mentioned by previous posts, they kept a short leash on me and finally gave me a $2K credit limit after 5 years although I spent way more on the Amex Platinum. I recently try to test the theory of requesting a CLI 3X my current limit and was approved instantly for $6K. Are some Amex card more generous than others? My NFCU Amex card automatically gave me a $17K credit limit without any requests.

@Anonymous -- although you're replying to an older thread, to answer your question surrounding the two cards you mentioned, the Hilton Surpass card is issued by American Express National Bank (AENB) whereas your More Rewards credit card is issued and managed by Navy Federal. Two totally separate financial institutions with very different UW criteria. The only commonality is that the NFCU More Rewards cc uses the AmEx network.
