@imaximous wrote:As long as you got the SP verbiage with your Citi accounts, just go for it. The amount will also depend on usage and age. We have many Citi cards and I've seen anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000 CLIs as the most common figures. The highest SP CLI was $8k, but that card was seeing heavy usage for some time. I've also requested a HP CLI after a SP and took a card from $16k to $50k. Totally worth the HP.
With Chase, I realize that a $5k limit may seem low if your charges exceed that amount regularly. But if you don't spend more than your limit and just worry about high utilization, Chase is actually easy to handle in that regard. Let's say you charge $4,900 out of $5,000 on your CSP. You can let the statement close completely maxed out. Chase will report that UTIL to the bureaus, but as soon as you pay it off, they'll update your reports again showing a $0 balance. It's not like most other CCs that only update once a month. That's why I never have to worry about UTIL with Chase.
Thanks imaximous. You make valid points, however I don't have the intestinal fortitude to have a utilization north of 80% on my CSP.

I can vouch for this. Tried for CLI on Citi/Costco April 21st - I pay that card in full each month - multiple times a month.
Card was opened August 2019 - request was DECLINED.

What was your intial SL when you opened the card if you don't mind me asking...

Those pulls only affect your score up to a certain number.
Each bureau is different how they grade them though.
I have 20 pulls on TU and still over 790. Inqs aren't a huge factor in scoring.
Hello again Gmood1.
Point taken, however I'm in the "Gardening" phase right now. My file is relatively thin, because I'm in a middle of a rebuild after I hit wall back in '08. I realize after 1 year, HP's don't really matter, but I don't have a need for new credit. My car will be paid off soon, my mortgage is fine, so I just need another $3-7/10K in my CL's so each larger transaction doesn't really effect my CU especially for the CSP card.
I hear ya. I'm a rebuilder from 2008. I just never stopped building.😆

Chase will be an HP - so make sure you factor that in on your decision to try
Hello RSX,
Based you experience, on average how much of increase did Citi give you?
I recently got $3k to bring me up to 13,500
but the previous CLI last year was only 1k
it is a medium use card for me.
and that is not a very high CL for me in relation to my other cards.

Gotcha. Thanks.
