Was surprised to be declined for Blispay after only two hours (they told me 24-48 hours over the phone). I've never been declined for a card before, and my credit score is near 800. Other than a mortgage and car loan, my utilization on each of my accounts is under 20% (altogether, utilization is 3%).
To be sure, I did open a SPG AMEX in March and had to apply for a HELOC last month to replace a heat pump. There are a handful of inquiries but I have only opened 7 credit cards in the past 24 months.
Surprisingly, they didn't even ask for income, so I'm not sure how they could decline without that information and without any negative marks.
Anyone know if there is a way to recon them? I didn't think they'd be so stingy given it is an upstart product.
They don't recon.. You can call and ask and they will explain why they declined you. A quick search on google or this site should yield a number for their credit dept. of first electronic bank number whom underwrites their CC's for them
Having a hard time finding the number on either Google or myFICO. The customer service line on the website asks for a card number.
Hate wasting a HP but is it worth pushing this card? Not sure if it will be a short lived product given the popularity, but the promotional financing and 2% cash back were attractive. It does bug me a bit because companies like AMEX have approved me without blinking.
I even got a $25k HELOC recently (though I am not using all of it immediately, and I don't think it's hit the credit report yet). I did have 3 inquiries as part of rate shopping, but those shouldn't hit me too much since they were all for the same loan type and in a short time period.
I just have never run into a creditor who hasn't considered debt-to-income before. My ratio is more than safe, so I don't think they could make an accurate decision based on just a credit report.
Try this number..Believe this is credit

Thanks. Called and got them to do another review. I'm still not sure how someone can make an accurate credit decision just based on a credit report without considering income & assets (I kind of emphasized that when I called).

BECU did that when I joined. Gave me a PLOC without even asking for income. And it was a soft pull. I love them.

Don't feel bad, same situation here with me, although I do have more than a handful of inquiries, lol!
This is one tough nut I have encountered. I always get approved 80% of the time for cards that I app for, albeit a low limit. This was a no go.
