I just called in to find out that after being in pending status for a day, I was declined a Wells Fargo reflect card. Not sure why or if I can ask for a review or what to say. Seeing so many posts here where folks with rough credit histories getting approved with decent SLs has me scratching my head.
My 8 scores are 799, 803, 788
total utilization a little over 20%
AAoA 11.5 years, never missed a payment in almost 21 years of credit history
13 lines of credit, 3 with balances, only one isn't paid off every month.
max utilization is on a card with 83% - a $33k balance at 0% I was looking to move
i have a student loan with a balance of $29k
my income is $160k
ive had a credit card with WF since 2006
no recent inquiries
reasons given were too much revolving debt, too close to revolving card limit, and not long enough history with WF (lol!)
I get that I am going hard on that one card. However, I feel like I am their ideal customer for the 0% for 21 months promotion - good credit and looking to move a balance.
Is it possible to call in and get a better result?
You can try although WF doesn't really recon that I have seen. I have had near perfect 850 scores and high income and never been able to get a card from them for obscure reasons. Likely too much credit available to me already, not used. Honestly they offer those cards, but they don't like losing $ either w/3% BT carrying that long and i would be shocked if they were to approve anywhere near the 30kish in balance you have. Most long term BT cards usually give fairly low limits for the reason mentioned above. Also as stated it is just a call and doesn't hurt to try to recon although I doubt it will bring and fruits.
Thanks for the input. Really just want to move 2/3 of it and was hoping for $14k I've seen people say they've received and then to reallocate some of the $9k I have with them already...
anyways since I've already had the pull I'll give them a call and see what happens
Well look at that, approved for $16k. Crazy world we live in. Thanks for the opportunity to vent and assemble my thoughts.
Congrats @ToCha! As they say, it never hurts to ask.
