So I applied for CareCredit, got a screen saying my application is pending and to call this number. Hey, this isn't bad right? Well I called the number and had to go to a site on my phone to take pictures of me, my DL, and a 5 second video. I did all that and called them back as asked. I assumed I was approved for SOMETHING if they're doing this. Called back and after a long hold, got declined. Only thing I can think of is my ID is still from my previous state, haven't updated it yet with the long Covid lines, and my physical address is in another. But they have a full video and pictures of me along with everything else...so not sure how they couldn't verify that's actually me just because I moved.
Anyone else have this issue?
I have not heard of this, but that's not to say it hasn't happened to others. Have you attempted a recon?
Typically, depending on their verification protocols, if something doesn't match up during the application process, it's going to be a no-go, unfortunately. You may have uploaded pics + the video, but if there's a discrepancy on the address, government or state issued ID (or something else), then it will fail the process.
Unfortunately, since SYNCB isn't known for reconsiderations, I would suggest getting the ID issue taken care of so you won't experience other issues or delays with other potential lenders.
I haven't attempted a recon as I thought all "credit analysts" have basically disappeared these days. The backdoor numbers used to be great 5-10 years ago.
I'm kind of surprised lenders are being this way. There are TONS of people that had to move during COVID. I think asking for a bank statement and utility bill would be just fine. Not sure if they realize how clogged the DMV stuff is for getting a new license as well. I have all those documents, but if I can't get an appointment for 6 mos to get a new license...kind of sad lenders are turning down business.
I think my main issue is everything is too automated. If I had 2 minutes to explain the above to an actual human or credit analyst like we used to have 5-10 years ago, they'd probably have me email docs like that an approved it. Tired of the automation crap (like Cap1 employees having ZERO power...)
Lenders have to be compliant with their verification process and KYC governance -- it's in the fine print when applying for any product. Each one will determine their own policies as long as it meets regulatory standards @Anonymous. Given the level of sophistication associated with identity theft instances and fraudulent scams across the globe, sometimes a bank statement or utility bill isn't going to suffice. Unfortunately, this is the reality of today's landscape whether we like or not 🤷♂️
