I tried for my usual 30 day CLI. Sometimes I get a 60 day schedule and sometimes 90. Needless to say it was a denial. No big deal. Should get it next month. However, the denial reason was weird. I got 2 reasons.
One was too many INQs. (True)
The second was “Payment history on account”
I have never been late. Never missed. Always PIf.
Should I be concerned? Should I call? Or do you think this is just one of their pick a reason.... or maybe a new way or wording the “not enough experience” reason?
My reports show nothing and I looked at all of my Statements.... yes, all of them-wasn’t fun-and I cant find anything bad.
Could it be because I make multiple payments per month? I always have and it never has been an issue.
Any ideas? Thx
That is a strange reason. Could just be one of those reasons that they do pick out of a hat but if it were me, I'd give them a call and ask about it.
I tend to believe about 50% or so of denial reasons are complete BS, so I wouldn't overthink it too much. You could request another CLI next week and get a completely different reason, when no doubt your profile and habits have not changed at all in 1 week.
Case in point with Discover CLI denial reasons: I've been getting the same denial reason every week on Monday (I request a CLI every Monday) since probably March. Before that I was doing requests monthly back to January. Same denial reason every time, "Not enough experience with current credit limit." Experience refers to using your credit limit for a period of time. I've had the same credit limit for 7 months now, yet I was able to get monthly CLIs for the 4 months prior. If 1 month is enough "experience" with a credit limit allowing one to obtain a CLI, certainly 7 months is enough experience. Bottom line, it's a BS reason. I'd rather them give a blanket statement like "Your profile doesn't support a CLI at this time" or a more true "You've received multiple CLIs in the past year already, so we don't feel you should get another at this time." Giving a denial reason that contradicts the approval reasons you've gotten prior is just BS.
Is there a reason in particular that you make multiple payments per month? Just to eliminate that variable from the equation, are you able to make a single payment per month for a cycle or two?
