Re: Discover 2nd (second) card app thread

Has anyone gotten a card with the cashback match then gotten the same card as their second discover and received the cashback match again?

Adkins: Oooohhhh! Today they told me that you can have two open accounts at a time. So if you combine card A and card B, and close one, they will let you open another account. Card C theoretically becomes an opportunity to get a third year of cashback match!

DW first card was opened in july of 2017 it hasn't grown past 3K no CLI since Jan looks like when u are grouped in a certain bucket card won't grow. Last night checked the prequal site showed It and Chrome chose IT she was instantly approved for 13K lowest APR 13.74% after 0% for 14 months. Some data points she is 3 years behind a BK7 Clean since BK have a mix of revolving and installment accounts Discover pulled EX

Does getting another 0% APR (chat) include balance transfers or do you have to ask for that?
Or does the second Discover have an intro 0% on BT?
Edit: Nevermind, I found it! :-)

Re: Discover 2nd (second) card app thread

My Disco history:  It opened 1/15 ($6500 sl), to $12k , 5/18.  Miles opened 6/16 ($6k sl), to $7.5k, 5/18.  Combined the two, with the $500 cli on both, resulting in It: $20.5k, and Miles closed.   Denied cli on It last week.   Approved today for NHL It (Boston Bruins - sorry Golden Knights!) @ $3k sl.   Current scores:  EQ 732  TU 738 EX 732 (down a bit: car loan 60 days ago).  Ready for hockey season!

Re: Discover 2nd (second) card app thread

According to a Fako site I was approved for my Discover It on 9/27/17, I was thinking of apping next month after receiving my statement. For the heck of it, I tried their pre-approval option and was told that I qualified for a Discover It and Chrome. Is that accurate or do I have to wait till next month?

I was thinking of taking advantage of that Amazon $75 statement deal.

Re: Discover 2nd (second) card app thread

I have 2 Disco cards, just got 2nd:

1st - 10/16 with $2.5K SL, 14 month 0% Purchase APR, cash back match. Current CL is $7.1K. Don’t remember exact data points, but FICO 8s were around 625ish

2nd - 9/18 with $13K SL, 14 month 0% Purchase APR, cash back match. Data points FICO8s EQ: 794, TU: 735, EX: 760, $150K income, utilization 4-5%.

Was told by CSR I could combine 1st Card CL with 2nd Card after 90 days of 2nd Card being opened.

I would really love to get some clarification on that last (bolded) part, because if this can be confirmed, it represents a significant change in Discover's card-combination policy. Heretofore, it had been (to my understanding) Discover's policy that both cards desired to be combined must be at least one year old, including the newer card, that the card being combined into the card to be retained had to have a zero balance, and that there must be a CLI available on either of the cards desired to be combined.

If your CSR is correct - and candidly, we all know that CSR's can give wrong information, sometimes hilariously so - then this is big for me, because I've been planning to combine my two current Discover IT cards but I had thought until now that I would have to wait until the newer card (the one I want to keep) aged to one year next March before I could seek to have the older card combined into the newer one. Can anyone else verify that Discover's combo policy has changed?

Re: Discover 2nd (second) card app thread

Hi Joe8185,

I’m certainly not 100% I have the information correct. The CSR did mention my new card would have to be eligible for a CLI before I could merge the old card with the new. It was communicated if I didn’t have any derogatories on the account within the first 90 days, it could be eligible and to call and see about combining. He didn’t requirement of new card aging a year, but as you said, the information could have been inaccurate. I’ll follow any replies and I do plan to call Disco once my 2nd Card arrives next week.
