Does this look like a solid pre-approval or just marketing? Not sure how it's true since my current Discover card is only 8 months old.
Discover is notoriously reliable. I would say trust it unless you have some recent changes to your score/reports. Not advocating to app or not; just my two cents.

You cannot get another Discover card until your first one is 12 months. That's a well known rule.

Clearly not that well known lol. Probably because I am new to discover. Merely said pre-quals with Discover in general are solid from what I have seen and my own personal experience.
It does look genuine with set apr and all but @Anonymous is correct. Disco likes the one year rule but maybe there are exceptions?. Weird that they offered up a prequal at only 8 months. If op doesnt mind wasting a hp could slways guinea pig
The prequal is not always a sure thing. Like others said they do have a 12 month policy where you must have your original card for 12 months before you can get a second one.

You just want everyone to catch up to how many HPs you've burnt! 🤣
OP, I had a phone convo with a Disco rep this week about the same thing. My pre-approval online almost had me smash it but then I remembered reading here that might be a mistake. So I called in and she confirmed that that would have been a mistake for sure. She said to wait until after I've been with them 1 year and better yet, wait to see if I start receiving mail offers.
You're offer is better than mine though, my apr is much higher. Hopefully you'll snag it soon enough after the 1 year mark.
Edit: sorry, the apr was the same....read it wrong.
@Anonymous wrote:Clearly not that well known lol.Yeah, I had read here and there on the forum about it but I still couldn't really recall, just knew I thought I saw something about being under 12 months. I actually did this with DH a few months back, got denied and it wasn't worded like that in the letter, it was more like, a recent change to his acct. or something. I figured cause he had gotten a cli. So I almost screwed up again. Probably because I am new to discover.Yep, I almost made the mistake of app'ing cause Disco is known to give solid pre-approvals, give me a false sense of security. Merely said pre-quals with Discover in general are solid from what I have seen and my own personal experience. I wish they wouldn't pre-approve knowing we are under the 12 months...a smidge misleading to anyone other than the MF'ers round here imo. Now I'm gun shy.
