Silly question, do I look for a pre-approval on the Discover site prior to logging in? Or once I log into my on-line account ( i couldn't see where to app for it there ) Exp is abut 770 now, which is substantially higher than when the original card was approved....is that a better way to go than calling in & speaking with a rep? (they are usually very helpful) ...and I can charm them a bit :-) lol
Yes, on the main page before you log in there is a pre-approval check. Hover over the credit cards link and the first one says "see if your pre-approved" Nice EX BTW I've never really had any issues with Disco either way, but i have always done my CLI/Cards on the website (unless i'm going for a double dip and call in) i like online, so that is upto you how you want to proceed. I do like doing the pre-qual on the website first at least so you know before they HP you.
OK, Graet,
Thanks for the input..... I also requested all CLI on line, I was just wondering about doing a new app,
Thanks again
I read this entire thread last week, then decided to go for it. Preapproved for another Discover IT so I app'ed through the link. Instant approval, yay! Today (6 days later) the new card arrived in the mail.
data points...
1st Disco IT, March 2018, HP Experian 781. SL $1000; with assorted CLIs and DDs later, CL is now $5000. The card is currently tied up with a BT which I am dragging out for the full 12 months. But I didn't want to miss January's 5% on groceries, hence the 2nd card.
2nd Disco IT, Nov 2019, HP Experian 772. SL $5200. It comes complete with 0% APR for 14 months, CB match, and BT offers. After a year, I plan to merge the two cards.
I've registered the new card, and linked them both for all-in-one sign-in and home page. My #1 card is standard issue Blue, while #2 is bright Green. I thought they would each display as such, but they both show as Blue. Anybody else have both (or all) your cards showing as Blue?
btw: Update, After going up & back here, I also apped on line.... approved immediately for $ 4,500 for the Discover miles card,
that is actually just slightly higher then my first card waiting for the card to arrive.... I'm happy

Congrats, that is awesome. With an SL like that, good usage and payments and you could see it grow fast. My first 2nd disco was a 2500SL, after 90 or so days, they doubled it to 5k. I did wait longer since i had such trouble getting a CLI on my Original 1st card that was secured but did graduate on the 7th month like clockwork. They won't tell you or say the word "bucketed" but it was... lol
You could have a monster limit and be earning monster miles
Thanks, Joe! Yep, you were right... when I logged in today, the colors were correct. I love the bright green.
So that makes 4 new cards for me this year. Enuf already. I'll save my fantasies about 10 Disco designs for 2020. In any case, it'll be a head-spinning year for sure.
That's great to hear Jago, my first also started as a secured card, and used that as one of my bases to re-build less than 2 years ago.
I toook it slow, methodical from what I read and learned here, and built from there. I actually just left the garden after 4 months for this card and a 2nd Amex where I was approved for $12,500!!!... (my largest line so far) one day before this Discover app.....and built it back to have acquired over 50 k in revolving cc.
..........Now back to gardening and letting them age & grow.
