I appreciate it! It's very fun to find other cc geeks trying to make the most of their cards. I'm learning so much from you guys and am happy to have joined!!
i opened up my disco back in december 2019. i have been denied cli all of 2020 due to insufficient experience.
i finally called them and they told me to wait until i hit a full year.
been using it heavy all year long to get the first year cashback match and maxxed out 3 of 4 quarterly categories.
paid in full all year long.
finally requested for the cli again last week (month pass my one year) and they approve for $500 increase.
Okay, here's a bit more info. I called Discover and spoke to Rep #1. I told her my situation in that I was turned down three times last year for a CLI, but that I was pre-approved for another card. She had to transfer me to a different department, but before I was transferred, she said her request also was declined last year "and she works there!"
Now comes Rep #2. I rehashed the same story with her to try and make some sense of how they operate. She couldn't (or wouldn't) give me a direct answer as to why I was declined. I asked her if it may have been since the economy tanked, but she just said there are various factors (or as we like to call them "algorithms") that come in to play regarding CLIs.
As to the pre-approval fror a new card, I was told a new card would be pre-approved for me up front, but that I would still get hit with a hard pull before final approval. Nah! I'll pass!
Guess I'll wait until Spring to try the Luv button again.

You became eligible on January 1, 2021. So you were only 2 weeks past. They say one year to simplify, but it is technically the first day of the following calendar month. You can always ask reps for the exact date on these things, for future reference.
Of Luv Buttons and Hard Pulls:
Would appreciate clarification of whether there's a specific "luv button" other than the "Credit Line Increase" tab on the Discover app?
Also, is Discover a soft pull or hard pull for a CLI? Which report do they use?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
Discover has always been SP for CLI for me and my wife
Well I have been attempting to get a CLI and no love. Other cards instantly approve 2-4K increases. After the next 5 % back, this card gets the sock drawer.
