Discover has clogged my mailbox with invitations for the last 6 months and I finally decided to take advantage of the cash back and 0%. The app was declined because of a paid charge off from 5 years ago. I spoke with a credit supervisor and was told that until it drops off they cannot approve it. The funny part is the charge off was with Capital One when I got sick 5 years ago and I paid it in full. Capital One has since given me a Quicksilver account for $10k but Discover will not approve it.
I have $80k in revolving credit available less than 10% utilization, a mortgage 2 car loans and no late payments in the last 5 years. I find it ridiculous that they would waste the paper to ask me to apply every week and then deny me based on a very old entry in the bureau.
Thanks for listening to my rant, I had to get it out. Have a great day everyone!
Ridiculous in their part.
Discover is a strange lender indeed I cant make heads or tails of them! At least after my last application was rejected they stopped with the invites / prequalification stuff in the mail! Wish they would at least thow a $500 bone our way to nibble on not bring up "ancient" history. hahaha

LMAO!!!! That was pretty funny
I applied with a mailbox invitation and was approved with a 3000 limit. Great. However I keep getting invitations in the mail even though I am a customer already. One came today in fact. You would think they would know who is a customer and who isn't.
Wow, sorry to hear that. I would be ranting as well if I'm being solicited by a credit card company and I apply and get turned down. Again, sorry.
So sorry that happened. It really sucks when you have an invitation.

That was a sobering post.. My mailbox is receiving weekly invitations as well (even with the 3% interest rate spread ) ... Thank you for sharing and sorry about the decline 👎🏽
