Update. I just returned from vacation and was going through my mail and right next to the decline letter from Discover was a new invitation to apply, I'm speechless....lol

The app was declined because of a paid charge off from 5 years ago. I spoke with a credit supervisor and was told that until it drops off they cannot approve it. The funny part is the charge off was with Capital One when I got sick 5 years ago and I paid it in full. Capital One has since given me a Quicksilver account for $10k but Discover will not approve it.
I have $80k in revolving credit available less than 10% utilization, a mortgage 2 car loans and no late payments in the last 5 years. I find it ridiculous that they would waste the paper to ask me to apply every week and then deny me based on a very old entry in the bureau.
Thanks for listening to my rant, I had to get it out. Have a great day everyone!
That was a sobering post.. My mailbox is receiving weekly invitations as well (even with the 3% interest rate spread ) ... Thank you for sharing and sorry about the decline 👎🏽
Thanks for the heads up! I too have been getting enough Discover IT invites to re-paper my master bathroom. I applied cold turkey without an invite twice last year. No luv. Since February, I've started getting these invites in the mail.I was wondering if it was worth it to apply, but now I think I save myself for my top choices of AMEX, Chase, and Citibank.

Not really surprised... CapOne is one of the easiest if not the easiest lender to get back in the door with after credit issues... worst case scenario you burn them and wait 6 months to a year. Best case you file BK and get a new CapOne card the day after you get discharged.
Discover isn't as friendly and a charge off (paid or unpaid) is still a major derog for as long as it's on your report.

Since this is a paid charge off, have you reached out to Capital One to see if they will remove it? As it will fall off in 2 yesrs they shouldn't really have an issue. I have suscessfully written letters in the past to credit card companies with similar circustances and was able to have stuff removed completely.
