Discover IT - Denied 2 Letters in the mail

Hello I recently applied for the Discover IT card I posted about it in another topic a few days ago. I got their 5-7 day message and I called the line for recon and was denied because of too many inquiries (10) in the last 12 months. I received my denial letter in the mail today along with a separate letter from Discover. My denial letter basically said the same thing too many inquires and that they did a double pull (grr) on Experian and Equifax and my FICO score was 730. I nearly hit the floor when I saw I was denied with that type of FICO.

So I got to the second letter which was dated a day later and it said they were unable to approve me because "My Application is still in process" and that I should call a credit analyst availible M-F 8am-Midnight. So now I have to wait until monday to hear what this is about. Anyone have an idea? Does it mean I still have a chance? Any insight would be greatly apprrciated, thanks

Discover is inquiry sensitive. It took me over a year to be able to get their card because I had too many inquiries. Had to wait for a few to drop off. I would call and see what the second letter is about, but once they decline you for inquiries that's pretty much their final decision. Also you are not only approved based on your FICO score. Many lenders have their own internal scoring system and take into consideration income, debt to income ratio, inquiries, etc.

Maybe the util and/or AAoA might have did you in also. Your score is 10-12 pts higher than mine when Discover approved me.

Yeah util is at 0% probably the age of my accounts but still Ive seen friends get it $500 limit with no history whatsoever. Im just a little mad it was a wasted double pull. I just hope the second letter is good news.
