Discover It CLI

Got approved for Discover iT.  Need advice on how to ask for CLI from them.  When should I try first CLI and how often should I attempt CLI after that.  Just need info on how to CLI Discover from the experts.

Congrats on the approval.  As for the CLIs I would try every 3 months.  Why not more often?  The last thing I would like for Discover to think I am desperate for credit. And do not get frustrated if it does not work for a while. I had to wait for 15 months to CLI my SL but now it is 5 x the SL Smiley Happy ... so it was well worth to show a bit of patience for me.

Thanks for the tip.  Is it possible to ask for a specific amount?  Or just let them offer you the CLI they wish.

The SP CLI via luv button online will grant the maximum Discover is willing to offer at this stage and offers a slider to lower the amount..lol... wonder if anybody ever used that slider.. ha ha.. I would certainly not let them do a HP in the first year because it could be a decline or a toy limit CLI. I did not do a HP at all and simply waited until SP CLIs were approved.

Re: Discover It CLI

I've seen reports with CLIs after 2 months. Lately people that got a CLI 2 months ago, kept asking for one every 16 days and got it several times, I think some got 4 CLIs in a row.

Others don't have such luck and got stuck for several months. A few got auto-CLI with good limit recently, like my DW stuck at $500 for 15 months and got an auto-cli to $3,000.

I got my first CLI after 6 statements. Now you can't ask for a specific number, they will offer some with a slider, so you can move it if you want less than what they approved.

I guess you just have to give it a try from time to time  and look out for any CLI trend from Discover.  It seems like you say, that recently they were giving away generous CLI very easily.

Re: Discover It CLI

I have to admit, I was skeptical on the 16 day rule. But I tried for myself and my husband. They gave me a $500 increase, and 16 days later they gave me another $500 increase. My husband has used his Discover card all of 1 time, last year to pay a parking ticket. They gave him a 1k increase, and 16 days later gave him another 1k increase. So I decided to move our monthly bills to his Discover just for some activity. I am at 3k now Smiley Happy he is at 9k Smiley Very Happy

Well, seems like Discovery lured you in with their generous CLI.  It worked out fine for both.  You got a hefty CLI and ended up utilizing  their card as primary CC. That was their objective in the fisrst place. Congrats.

Lol, I would not call putting  4 monthly bills that total less than $200 as a primary but they are definitely getting more action thanks to their soft pull generosity. Smiley Happy
