I was going through old junk mail last night from earlier in the year and discovered that I had received an invitation from Discover to apply for the It card.
It said I should apply by April 25, 2015.
My scores are higher now in the mid 750's. Would it be better to apply using the Invitation # or is that just a marketing gimmic?
I have nothing negative on my report. 100% perfect payment. I'd wait until the end of the month when my statements close. According to the simulator my scores should go up around 15 points.
What was your starting limit? I would like a fairly high one at least $7000. I used to get a lot of Discover prequalies in the mail, and never took Discover serious as a cc company. I actually did not consider them on par with Visa/MC/Amex.

Did you just get the one? I started receiving inivitation letters weekly in late June. I was skeptical as I app'd in Oct. and was turned down flat, and my scores were slightly better then as I only had 5% utilization, now up to 16% overall & 55% on Barclays NFL due to a 15 mo 0% $4k BT to pay off a Prosper loan. But when I got the 3rd one (w/12/31/15 expiration) I decided to app - instant approval w/$4k SL. I've received 2 more invite letters since then, guess they decided they really wanted me. My scores were around 700 w/1/31/11 BK7 discharge. With your 750 score & no baddies you should be good shape with Discover.
You can also check the pre-approval site. It's pretty tricky though as it shows a card for everyone, regardless of if they're pre-approved or not. Look for a set APR or a small APR range (e.g. 10.99-14.99%) instead of 10.99-22.99% if it matters to you.

If my gf only gets 3 letters from Discover in a week, then it's a slow week I almost want to make her apply so that they'll stop sending letters
I'm just going to hold tight and maintain the status quo. Tilling away at my veggies.
