1 Mos. ago I hit the luv button on Discover.com and was given a $500 increase. So I thought I'd do a double dip. My income is low $130s, Utilization 6% AAOA 1.9yrs, Oldest 12.7yrs, no baddies scores are 737 & 9 inquires on Eq, 749 TU & 8 Inquiries, 747 Ex & 4 Inquiries. I called in and the representative said she couldn't offer me more without a HP. I agreed to it (Don't ask me why). She put me on hold and when she cam back she offered me $5k more. So started the day at $12k, bumped to $12.5k by Luv button and then to $17.5 by CSR.
Would it be considered bad form to hit the love button now that it is a new statement cycle and 30 days later? Part of me says I should just chill for 4 months, but these diabolical luv buttons are so hard to resist.
I hit it every month. Last three months in a row have yeilded 6k total in increases so I don't see any reason why you shouldn't hit it if you your profile supports it. Maybe don't opt for the HP this time?
Yes, 1.9Yrs. Oops.
Gotcha. That makes more sense.
I have not heard much data on people taking HPs from Discover for CLIs. The reason for this is likely because many people are able to achieve SP CLIs quite frequently (as often as every 30 days in many cases) and the SP CLIs can be hefty. I've received a bunch of SP CLIs from Discover and the majority of them have been in the $3500-$5500 range. Based on those numbers, if I were to take a HP CLI from them I'd want/expect at least double that or more, otherwise I wouldn't bother with the request.
Op, which CR they pulled for your HP CLI? i'm considering to take HP for my discover card in the future and been stuck for 5 months no SP CLI.
I dont want apply for new card at this moment after my 2 approvals.

I would ride it out if I were you. I went 9 months with no SP CLI, but finally got one for $5500 and then 2 months later got another for $4000. Had I gone for a HP CLI somewhere around the 5 month mark (when you are at now) I may have gotten one of those CLIs earlier, but ultimately I think 11 months down the road I would have more or less ended up at the same place. I've found that SP CLIs from Discover sort of tend to come in waves at times, where you'll get 2-4 of them in 30-90 day increments and then will go a span of time without getting anything.

@Anonymous. Great advice. I will wait then. I have BT 0% on the card so it will on my SD anyway for 6 months until it $0. Officially on SD as today.
Sounds like a plan. There's still no harm in trying for SP CLIs in the meantime while it's hanging out in the SD.
I'd recommend trying every month any day after you see your FICO score update on your Discover account. I always request on Monday mornings following my monthly score update regardless of my account activity. I've gone months with 0 swipes and still received a CLI and also gone months with a $2k-$3k spend followed by PIF and received nothing. I can't determine any consistency there with respect to spend being a factor, so I just do my monthly request regardless and just see what happens.
I'm at about 3 months now (close to 100 days) since my last CLI, where my last one before that came in about 45 days and before that about 60 days. I'm not sure if this means I'm "due" soon, or if perhaps I've entered another 9 month span where I'll go without one. We'll see!
