Re: Discover Score Approval?

Yes people a year or two out of BK7 have been approved for Discover.. Whom they chose to approve is the big confusion though.. Some with BK's and 640's will get approved and some with no BK and scores in the 640's(obviously you would ideally want to be in the 700's,  but seen 630's+ get approved, just not as much as higher scores) will get approved, while people in the mid 700's will be declined.. They are quite honestly all over the place on whom they choose to approve and decline.  No rhyme or reason that I can really put my finger on other that possible recent approvals are usually a reason for a denial..  So based on your score and how old you BK has been will help us know more whether you are likely to get approved or not.  They are a tough lender to find any sort of trend with though.

Re: Discover Score Approval?

Yeah, I agree with CreditCuriosity. Discover is a strange bird, and I consider them to be one of the most unpredictable lenders for approvals. Keep in mind, even if you are not approved for an individual/unsecured card, you will likely be offered a joint account or a secured account if those interest you.

Re: Discover Score Approval?

They have a prequal website you check to see if you qualify for any offers and it won't impact your score.  I just tried and it prequal'd me for the it card but I'm not interested. Sounds exactly like the Chase Freedom card I was just approved for yesterday.  Good luck!

Re: Discover Score Approval?

Discover pre qualify site is useless. They pre qualify everyone.

My BK7 was from 2011. I do have a few CO that are paid. I spent last night looking all over the internet and found that Discover is wacky on how they approve people. I did try in April this year and they pulled TU. My score was in the around 570 I believe.  I have 7 inq within the last 12 months on TU. My UTIL was pretty high because I needed to pay off some urgent medical bills for my kids. Now everything is paid off.  I know the pre-qual site, you can just type in a cartoon character and still get an offer. I just don't know if I should try to get it now or wait until next year?

Re: Discover Score Approval?

My wife and I were both approved for DC IT approx 2 yrs post DC Chapt 7. Her ICL was $4500 mine was $500. I got a couple of quick CLI  she did not. DC is hard to figure out  but it does appear that you are most likely to be approved 2+yrs post BK discharge.

Re: Discover Score Approval?

Personally if I were you I would wait until I was in the 680's before tempting my luck with Dsicover if I were you as it most likely will be a denial if scores in signature are up-to-date.  As stated Discover is very weird, but the better your profile is the better your chances will be.  With time all wounds heal.  With that said they like people with BK 7's for some reason, maybe cause they can't burn again for 10 years?  Who knows on their throught pattern

Re: Discover Score Approval?

I agree with CC. Your current scores are a bit on the low side for approval.
