Discover

I havent got a credit card mailer in years! I get one today from Discover inviting me to apply for the categories card. I really want in with Discover. Should i wait and continue my work on my credit or apply. I have like 30 inq and ny scores are like 689 ex 690 eq 700 trans ... i recently paid off hc processing which is a card thay helped me finance my bed and closed it but it hasnt updated on cct yet also my credit limit increase on my jcrew from 300 to 4500 hasnt updated yet. Also, i didnt want to apply necause b of a baited me to app and i got denied while i was out i requested a limit increase on usbank which was denied ans i apped for amex cause of ck which was a no go as well i cant handle the rejection anymore, maybe at this point im looking for an approval and i should back off but the mailer got me smiling even though it was just an invitation and not a pre approval. I know its not much info but throwing it out there. What do you all think?

Re: Discover

I got a mailer with a single APR (not a range), 18 month 0% BT, 12 month 0% purchase. Opt out notice at the bottom. Applied, instant approval. FICO of 680. Pulled EX. Also got a prequal on the site, mailer terms were better.

AAoA, 4 months. No baddies. 21% utilization.

Consider waiting a week or two. I got 4 more mailers between being approved and getting the physical card. The best offer was was from the first mailer, but if you're on the fence on whether or not you'll be approved, you could wait and see how serious they are about you.

Re: Discover

Being that you got the mailer, it's possible that you could get an instant approval, assuming your profile stayed the same or got better from the time they pulled your info. Nothing is a guarantee though. So, if you feel like you want to improve a bit more first, there certainly is no harm in that.

Re: Discover

Discover isn't too gun shy of inquiries unless there is another reason to deny you. In my experience, between my wife and I having been approved through mailers I'd say with those scores you have a very decent shot. My wife was approved with a BK reporting.. and I was approved with many new accounts and inquiries.
