Do AU count towards the 5/24 Rule with Chase?

I have 3 new accounts in the last 6 months, but my dh also added me as an AU on his Sam's Mastercard. I am planning to app for the CSP and the FU in January. I was thinking I would be ok and then I couldn't find any info on whether they will count the AU as a new account. My dh has had that card for over 5 years if that makes a difference.

I also have a Chase Slate account that I have had since 2001 that I was thinking maybe I could PC to the FU. Would a PC count towards the 5/24?

Thanks.

A PC does not count toward the rule.  To be on the safer side when you apply, have your husband remove you as AU on his account. Chase does take that into consideration.  You can always be added back on his account after approval..

Thank you. I will do that to be safe.

I think you'll be rejected automatically? But I've seen au reconned when a person see's them as they aren't your own.

Also even if he does remove you I don't think it pulls it off your report does it? Wouldn't it still show it was on your report during x time? Still appearing as an account opened?

Thanks for that information Kuma. I think I will be ok if I PC my slate to the FU and then apply for the CSP. I am waivering as to which travel cards I want to go with. I have been looking at the Citi Prestige and even though it has a $450 AF it has benefits that would more than make up for it. So I have time to do my research and decide.

Once the AU is removed, the account status usually goes to closed, because echnically you are closing the account (for the AU) And AU gets the whole history of the account, so if the account is opened in more than 2 years ago, then i don't see how chase could know when it was added.

Re: Do AU count towards the 5/24 Rule with Chase?

Here is the only account i am authorized user on. If you look, the open date goes back to the actual date the account was opened, not when it was added to your report. I just became an AU on this account few months ago. So unless the account you are AU on is younger than 2 years old, then there is no way Chase knowing when you were added on the account, therefore you should be good.

Re: Do AU count towards the 5/24 Rule with Chase?

Right because even if it shows closed on your report, chase doesn't care for 5/24. They care how many were OPENED. They don't care if you opened 6 and closed 10. You still opened 6 and appear as a churner, which they don't want. Either way I think you'll be fine, however, personallllyy. Pending income and spend I don't think I'd get two travel cards with AF and have similar features(unless their starkly different partners and you use multiple) CSp and prestige are similar in their benefits I think, being dinner/travel related. Really depends on your spend tho. For a 450 af, I'd make sure it's worth it since you aren't comparing 3x points to zero. You should be comparing it to the 2x you'd get from csp

Re: Do AU count towards the 5/24 Rule with Chase?

Kuma, if I decide to go with the Citi prestige I wouldn't get the CSP. I agree that two travel cards with AF would likely not be worth it. My dh and I typically take a nice trip every two years with smaller less expensive long weekends thrown in. I wish I would have researched cards more last year because we are headed to Peru the end of this month for two weeks. It would have been nice to have put it on a good travel card.

That sucks, sorry to hear. Fwiw I think the CSP could not be more amazing. But I don't plan on travelling abroad for a very long time, which it seems like you do. Southwest is my ish. I'm sure prestige has lots of nice benefits, unfortunately my girlfriend and I aren't a combined income yet so it makes zero sense for me for a while. Good luck with everything
