Editing for clarity- my broader objective is to app for a card in the next 30 days, that has the best mix of sub, cashback rewards, and the highest SL I can get. Want to get my CFU limit higher, if possible, to help influence my sl with another company.
I've had the CFU for 5+ years and it's grown. It was mostly in the dresser drawer the first 2 years, .
Sept '20 Opened at $900. Feb 22- $1700 -> June '23 $3400 -> April '24 $6800 -> Dec '24 $8300 -> Nov '25 $13,300
I did a manual cli request in '24 to get to $8.3k. I maxed the card out the card in Oct '25 (then pif once it hit report), and 2 weeks later, got the auto cli. I assumed that was bc of spend, maybe it was only bc of the year gap? A few months prior I was not eligible for a cli it said, online.
It has zero balance currently. Maybe I shouldn't have requested a cli a week ago, but too late now. Does Chase have a minimum time between auto cli's?
I have a purchase for the full amount of the new limit to make, soon.
How unlikely is an auto cli from chase, after the recent manual cli decline, if I max out the current limit and then pif once it hits my report? Or pif before it hits my report.. etc, whatever is better for the odds.
Thin file, only 3 cards.My secure card from 12+ yrs ago of $300, this CFU, and a BoA Cash Rewards Card for $33k.
I don't have any hp's on my account, all 3 bureaus are in the low 800 range, no lates/baddies etc. Doing AZE0, <5% util, etc.
If there's an above average chance that this purchase will bump my Chase card up again, I'd like that to help with a high SL from another company. Otherwise, might app and use that card for the purchase. Open to suggestions (sadly it can't be amex, but no chargeoff history with them), reading plenty on here as usual, before a decision.
If it were me I would either pay it off completely before the statement ends or pay it down to a $50 to $100 balance. I would not let a maxed out card report to the credit bureau.
Thanks for the response. I edited my OP some. The CFU has a zero balance.
Still would like advice on this, especially from those familiar with chase cards.
Is there a minimum time between auto cli's?
Does a manual decline, following an auto cli, usually delay the next auto cli? What if the spend justifies it?
I'm wondering how likely maxing it out and pif (before it hits report or after) is, to get an auto cli. That was the pattern my auto cli from 2 months ago followed.
Still wondering if there's a minimum time for Chase between auto cli's, with a manually requested decline (45 days after the auto cli).
If the odds are, say, 70/30 against Chase bumping me up, I'd do a new app.
Not sure if it's that precise, but those with more general knowledge of Chase probably have a good idea of which way it'll lean.
