No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
I see Discover and others offer a student credit cards. I hear some are easy to get. Out of 100 times, how many issuers ask for some form of ID of a student? Because some of the students can be part time. Or a online course.
Yes they verify. Even PT and online students are provided student identification.
If you aren't a student, and apply for a student card that requires you to be a student I'm pretty sure that's fraud. Don't risk it
You don't actually have to be a student to get the Capital One Journey card but it's the only "student" card I'm aware of that doesn't have the student requirement.
I am not really sure how useful the Journey would be though since if you can get the Journey, I'm sure you could probably get the QuickSilver and earn 1.5% instead of 1% (1.25% if you're on time).
My kiddo was approved for the Student Card from Discover back in December. She was required to send in picture of her DL and verification of her student status. She's still in high school (a Senior), so we sent in her letter of acceptance with her scholarship award amounts. They approved her application, but only after they got the photos of that information.
I wanted to start her off with her own credit card before she left home. That way I can monitor it a bit to help her get the hang of it. It's her first bill ever. Hope that helps.

They dont ask for proof. My sister got a student card from Disco clicked on it by mistake but got it. They didn't ask for anything.

I have only applied for a single student card and the only verification Citi did was I had to provide a school email address they could send a link for me to click on.
Just remember that any experiences here should be considered as YMMV. What works out for one individual may not be so for the next person.
If you're not a Student, then I would caution against applying for a Student card. Because if pressed for documentation, and none exists, it can be considered fraud as stated above. Resulting in a denial and possible blacklist for a period of time that they see fit.
With so many Lenders and so many CC options, one shouldn't need to skirt the rules to get a particular card.
A little tidbit about Discover and Student cards.....
I did not apply as a student, because I wasnt one at the time...
That said.. Discover had to use an Enhanced Score due to not having a FICO score at the time... and they sent me a rejection with a stellar enhanced score.. I actually asked one of their reps about it and was basically hinted that if it was a student app... it would have been approved but it would have been harder to get CLI.... waited quite some time after and tried again after my scores were reporting and climbed back up from the initial hit from my first card.... and discover...
