I burned Chase with a Foreclosure and BK about 13 years ago. I applied and was approved for a Freedom card on Tuesday.
This gives me hope. My Chase accounts that were included in my BK have fallen off of my reports. Maybe I'd be approved and if not, maybe I'd just get a letter without them doing a HP. I guess it's a YMMV thing.
I maxxed out a chase cc for $500 (pretty sure the interest and late fees took it to like 3k) back in 06. It was toward the end of 06 so Im sure the account was open accruing charges for a while. I can't even remember. All I know is, if I can get back in with chase, I'd like to get the csp down the road (next year sometime). Or even the jp morgan ritz card, or is that for true high rollers? Like, 6 figure a year people and up? Cause I make 50k lol. Not sure if jp morgan cards would count if I was blacklisted with chase.

You don't have to be a 'high roller' to have a Ritz card but it does have a hefty AF and is really designed for those who travel. If you do a 50K salary is sufficient for the card. Nonetheless if you're blacklisted with Chase you're blacklisted for the JP Morgan cads as well.

I would likely be blacklisted for what I did right? It was less than a decade ago. I burned cap one too and they actually tried suing me in court but the case got dismissed because I had brain surgery for a tumor and was disabled in 2010. Maybe chase got wind of that and didn't try to sue me, for that reason? I read people who are blacklisted sometimes apply and chase just insta-denies them for a "previous account" or whatever and they dont do a hp, which would be nice.
I bank with Chase and they won't give me a credit card because of my BK7 from 2011. The banker said they don't like seeing a BK lol. Well guess I have to wait until 2021. I have never had a Chase card.

I presay never had a Chase card, but back in 2008 right in the middle of my filing of a CH13,, I believe it's was CITIBANK sold off there Best Buy accts to CHASE Bank , So I guessing a BK a Chase acct . Because every time I try their (Chase) pre-approve site I get NOTHING. Ugh
Dont feel so bad 29......I get the same thing from all 3(look in my sig).
As far as being blacklisted, when I apped for freedom 2 yrs ago, they actually pulled my report which tells me that I'm not blacklisted with them.
And natually I was denied due to BK....

but, even though they have a long memory. 7+ years out might be long enough for them. I have 8 chase cards and never prequaled for any of them.
I burned chase in a BK with several of their cards in 2003. It took me nearly 9 1/2 years to get back in. U might have to just apply and see what happens. Id do it if you are low on inquiries and new accounts since you may have to recon with them.
Citi & AE as well.....To think that I have to wait another 7 yrs to get back in good graces with them seem like an eternity.
But then, I really dont miss'em....
@Anonymous wrote:Reading these stories about Chase makes me think about why go with them? I know they are seen as one of the premier cards, but with their tight requirements and their financial reviews, is it more about being in the "club" than anything else? Other cards offer similar rewards without the heartache.
I tend to agree.....

It's a selective long memory, key word selective
I've seen folks with charged off cards or bankrupt cards (or at least labeled so and still on profile) get new cards or have new cards
Funny enough, I've also seen a case where someone opened a checking account and got approved for a cc; they shut down the checking based on some information from years ago that it was so old and the information was wiped..but still buried beneath somewhere so that when a second team looked at it they reserved the right not to do business with her anymore, shut down the checking but the cc was left alone.
I'm sure there are quite a few folks who have been denied a cc because they've burned chase in the past but just as much folks who have burned chase in the past--but is able to get cards or reestablish a relationship with chase
I would just bite the bullet and do the inquiry, unless you've already have multiples..but that's just me. No one can really say for sure except underwriters
I'm only 3 1/2 yrs post BK......what do you think about my chances? assuming everything is up and up(util, income etc...)
I was denied for freedom 2 yrs ago due to BK.....nothing suprising there. But like you said, I had to try.
