Hi everybody. I have been reading the forums here and looking into US Bank credit cards. From what everybody says they seem strict on new accounts and inquiries. But other than that I haven't seen a lot on what else they are strict on or willing to accept... Do they approve people with negative items on their reports?
Hello @Anonymous and welcome to the forums.
What types of negatives are in your reports and how old are they? Is it a BK, charge-offs, ...?

@FinStar Hi and thank you. I have one paid charge off unfortunately. It started going late 08-2019, closed in 09-2019 the day after hitting 60 days late, and was listed as charge off 02-2020. I paid it 08-2020. I also have a late on another account from the same time that one went late. But that account is still open and current. I doubt I'd get it if I tried now so I'm trying to plan ahead to when I would apply next summer when everything would be another year older if there's a chance...

I was approved with lates but no charge offs on my account. Last late was end of 2018, approved for the USB AR 11/2020. Lates are part of the story but everyone's credit profile is different. A profile with lates with a thick file is different than a profile with lates and a thin profile. See where your credit score is when you want to apply and post the details then. Lending criteria could also change so it's hard to say what your chances are a year from now.
I was approved, but I have outsized deposits and liquid investments with them, and I started with secured card, graduated to unsecured then opened a cash+ with 4 CO's that were approximently 4 yrs old.
This is going back years ago, but when Northwest Airlines was around I applied and had a negative on my file, auto-declined. I called and spoke to an UW, he told me that ANY negative on the CR usually was sent for a manual review. I was approved but it was a very low limit, like $1K and I called later that year and it went to $5K. When NWA became DL the account was sent over to AX but this was many years ago, and my only experience with a negative and USB.

Did your app go under review or automatic approval?
Manual review always.
