After receiving my “It’s Official” email for my Cap1 cards, I decided to check out my bonuses so I can figure out what I’m going to purchase to obtain them. I read this review on their site:
“Shan the Man Location: AZ Cardholder for: 3 - 8 years Use: Never Used
2 stars out of 5 August 17, 2015
I recently applied and accepted a Venture Rewards card. I was drawn to the bonus miles that are applied after 3,000 $ worth of purchases within 3 months. I was disappointed to find that the offer applies to 3,000 $ worth of purchases from the date of enrollment (aka the date I was accepted on) I applied on 8/9 and received a letter on 8/17 stating that I would receive the card in 2 or 3 weeks meaning in reality I will have less than 2 months of receiving the card with which I am able to spend the 3,000 $ to receive the rewards. While I am happy overall with Capital One accounts I am annoyed at the wording that appears misleading to the average Joe. Glad I called and clarified so I understand.”
Does it really take that long to get the card?
Not for me. I had the Venture 3 HP show up on myFICO on July 8, and my first charge was made July 15.
I am already a CapitalOne cardholder, so they had completely up to date information, so that might be a factor.
If that poster was a new CapOne applicant, and there were any issues with address or issuing the card, that could account for the delay.
I was also instapproved, saw the approval on line, so there was no delay for me waiting to get a letter in the mail.
Most likely this poster was not an instant on-line approval, got a 7-10 day message, then some time after that the application was approved, and the letter, then card mailing sequence started.
What you said makes sense NRB, I guess I would a little concerned when they said:
"J..........,
It’s official! You’re a Capital One card customer. We’re happy to have you on board.
Right now, we’re busy personalizing your new card and making sure it’s good to go. As soon as it’s in the mail, we’ll send you a quick heads up. Get ready for good things to come."
They make it sound like they're building a car for me! Hopefully you're right and it won't take but a few days.
They have an interesting presentation of the Venture card when you get it in the mail. Basic paperwork, but creative wording that makes their entheusiasm entertaining. Remember your WooHoo from last night They are doing their best to keep your excitement going!
RIght again! I received my Discover it Card today and it was in such fancy packaging, I wondered what it was. My curiosity had me opening it immediately. And I really like the numbers on the back design. Interesting!

Patience is extremely important in the credit game. Best of luck!!!
Oh I'm patient. I'm more concerned with getting the required purchases amount in such a short period of time. I don't want to be making frivolous purchases just to get a bonus, no matter how great.
That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the info Omar!
I don't have a Venture card, but it took close to 3 weeks for my first platinum and 11 days for my second one. I live in South Alabama.
