Does it really take that long?

It's absurd because if it's actually mailed when they send out the email (or thereabouts), it doesn't take that long in the mail if it's a first class postage. I can mail something from here in Chicago to a friend in DC and she'll receive it within 2 business days. I've had a friend mail me a letter from CA and again, it took 2 business days. USPS is bad, but when it's a small letter, those items generally arrive rather quickly.

Then, at this point you have no choice but to wait until it's delivered.  Every lender's credit card processing and fulfillment units are not the same and while some like Citi, AmEx or Chase may be quicker with processing plastics (again depending on batch processes, hub location, geographical delivery, USPS/courier agreements, etc.), there are others who will take longer.

Yes, of cousre I have to wait. I was addressing your confusion on why I thought it was absurd.
