Good thing I didn't go on a spree
They didn't SP the other two and the only two inquiries added to my EX in a year were, in fact, these two. Actually, I hadn't had a HP since October of 2019 on EX. I definitely look like a reformed credit seeker.
That just makes me even more curious as to how that UW is going down. Did your applications get forwarded to two completely different groups of people and are being reviewed with two completely separate sets of standards? Did both of your applications wind up on the same persons desk simultaneously and are being reviewed by one person for both products?

Seeing how there was a SP listed for another company inbetween the two, I would imagine that these were two separate reviews.
I wonder if they were intentionally split up because they both arrived at the same place, causing the subsequent SPs.

@Anonymous Since this has its own thread now, we can dive into this a little bit more.
My guess is that the apps work on a first in, first out basis and that UW for US Bank and Elan are the same department with possibly different UW rules. That would easily explain why both were done the same day but with the other SP happening after another company did. A large bank like US Bank is likely to have a queue system that automatically doles out the next application to the UW that finishes the previous one. That SP from Elan would prompt an investigation into the results of the US Bank app which could work for or against me depending on the outcome of the original app I would imagine.
At this point I'm almost as curious about DPs as I am anxious for the results!

@Anonymous Cool! Me too!
Interesting. I have been with Ent for a long time and two car loans, but I was denied a CC even after getting three preapproval mailers lol.
But I was approved by Fidelity, which I've been with for much less time....
Good luck with this one!

It sounds like a lot of other people have had similar experiences. I wonder if it is the same group looking at applications for all card apps coming in for USB as well as Elan, and then basing their approval decision on a different set of standards for each individual product applied for.

Yeah I know that Ent on the whole leans conservative but my credit report has been a lot more conservative lately too. I mean just look at my scores. I am actually fine if I only get one out of two, that was the outcome I was initially expecting, but if I get both I won't complain either. I would have entertainment and utilities on the Max Cash and fast food and electronics stores on the Cash+.

That is how I would imagine it is done.

For what it's worth that's what I think too. They definitely combine services look at the mailing addresses.
