After getting a collection deleted from credit report within the last day or so I checked my Credit Card matches on Experian and it showed I was qualified for a Citi Double Cash Card....so I went to the Citi pre-qual site to see if I qualified and they said I was qualified for the Costco ...which just recently denied me for having too few satisfactory credit references....that was prior to getting the collection removed....now I have all positive reporting info...prior to getting to collection removed I had a 636 score....my quesstion is should I take a chance and apply for the card....prior to the collection deletion all I matched for was Credit One and similliar hardcore cards and Secured cards...right now I have a Cap1 and a NFCU cash rewards recieved within the past 4 months..... how accurate is the credit matching or should I just avoid it all together...I'm trying to rebuild a solid profile after sitting on the sidelines for quite a few years and no I haven't burned Citi actually had a card with them years ago
Citi is the devil. Go get an Amex.
LOL...ok...I just checked their pre-qual site and don't match anything...I'm really trying to be conservative with my hard pulls and don't wanna app unless I'm pretty sure it's going to bring a positive result...

Neither was I for the last 6 months. See the shiny Delta in my sig? Cold app. If your score is at least a 640, you got a shot at a Delta, SPG, or Hilton.
Ok I'll keep that in mind I just app'd for the Citi and was declined...so I'll wait a month or so before I go and try the Amex cards....
Told you they were the devil. Telling you that you're pre-approved and then doing that. BTW, are the 2 cards all you have on your report? How old are they? Citi hates thin files. Discover and Amex love thin files.
No...I have a closed Elan Mastercard and a Student loan as well all in good standing...no lates or anthing like that and the cards are about 3 mo's old....

Citi gave me $2,500 when I only had like 1 year AAoA.... Not saying Citi is the best or anything just thought I'd add.
The key here is 1 year.. Both Citi and Chase become more amicable if you have at least 1 year of experience with someone else...
