Expert Cap1 pre-qualify help needed for a friend

Hi there,

It has been a while since I got a C1 card and I am unsure if this is a legitimate pre-quality or not.  Assuming this is what would be the preferred card to apply for?  The backstory is that this woman’s soon to be ex-husband ruined her credit.  She is living off debit cards.  I don’t know what he scores are but will know soon.   The insane thing is that they both came from money and have money and it was his inability to just pay the bills on time to put her into this situation.  Also did not pay medical bills and took down his son’s credit as well.  Nice guy huh.  Anyway I feel that I can help her with some of the mess once I look at it but there is nothing like a Cap1 to kick off the old rebuild.  Any comments or suggestions are most welcome.

Thank you

Cap1 pre-approved offers are usually solid. BUT there are *NO* guarantees the applicant will be approved.

Thanks but I am not asking for approval chances, I am asking if the name and APR are in the correct formant to make this a legitimate offer.

Yes.  Although as stated above it can always change when they pull the 3 CRA's

I don't see in your original post asking if "the name and APR are in the correct formant (???) to make this a legitimate offer".

It is a legitimate offer and I would suggest the QS1 as it is a rewards card, but it has an annual fee. Something to consider.

The Platinum has no rewards but has no annual fee.

Starting lines are going to be similar or the same.

Re: Expert Cap1 pre-qualify help needed for a friend

Abort mission and tell friend to apply for Navy Federal Credit Union. They will give reward with no AF and likely a lower apr.

@Anonymous, thanks re the 3x pull, @Anonymous sorry about that, because I posted a pic I thought the name/% format would have been the obvious question.

@tydawg - thanks -- I was thinking of cap1 just because the pre-qual is a near 100% or at least I thought it was.  nfcu is not a bad idea as well, 3 hps vs 2.  really need to see her cct and annualcreditreport to see if there is some quick cleanup, pfd, etc that can happen before she starts with the cards.  what a mess, the womans family is worth billions.  she is worth millions.  really hard to believe.  anyhow thank you all

Re: Expert Cap1 pre-qualify help needed for a friend

I got both of those cards in the pre q (Platinum and QS1)  for my DW and she had terrible credit at the time of the app. Both started with $300. 2 months later i asked for cli and both jumped to $800 instantly. If you decide to go with Cap One, i would take advantage of 3 hp's and get 2 cards back to back. Then get one cli at least on each card, then combine them for one better CL card.
