FNBO AMEX preapproval

I have cleaned up by casualties from 2008,  in the past year got a Capital 1 QS then in last 3 months got preapproved and accepted for Discover and Citi Double.  In today's mail I got FNBO Amex preapproval.  No fee but never mentions rewards or bonus.   Is this worth going after and getting upgraded?    My wife has a FNBO Visa for the points at the Murphy gas station so I am familar with the firm.

Welcome Backwoods!

From what has been said on here, FNBO is a great bank...  I don't know the specifics of the Amex card from them, but overall they seem to be one of the preferreb banks here on MF

NFCU $60.4k/PenFed $22.5k/Commerce $15K/53 $11K/Synovus $14K/BBT $11K/CapOne $12K/DCU $7.5K/BMO $7.5K/Chase $14.5k/Cabelas $10K/ and many many more!
Total CL $398600, plus car and RV loan.
Ooh. Ooh. Getting closer to that $500K mark!

Re: FNBO AMEX preapproval

Fltireguy,  I have had good luck with them on my wife's visa.  .   Finding anything about them is very hard.  They had a great promo with her visa this Fall for extra gas points. We got over $200 from it.   The offer has about a 60 day life so I may just hold it and wait a little longer.  What I really want is an Amex Simply Cash for the business.    I don't want to waste a hard pull or get a another   card that will never be used.   Thanks for the reply.

Re: FNBO AMEX preapproval

I'd take the offer. I got my FNBO AMEX almost 3 years ago at $3500 and now it's at $14K--and would probably be much higher if my scores had been a little better. I've gotten my regular CLI's every 4 to 6 mos. like clockwork--all SP and have never had to fight to get them like I'd have to with Chase and a couple of other banks. Excellent bank to deal with!

Re: FNBO AMEX preapproval

The only reason I have not yet is reward points. The offer did not mention reward points.  I know the standard app on their site does.  I am careful to use the right card for the right purchase between my C1 QS, Citi Double Cash   and Discover and wife's cards and we have made out like a bandit on cash back.    I probably will in the next two weeks be applying. I don't use QS as much any more. We pay off most balances biweekly to keep a 10% or less useage.

I am sure its probably 1.5% cash back.  Does it list an interet rate anywhere? Like 19.xx?

Re: FNBO AMEX preapproval

Actually it says 21 per cent .  I really don't care about APR. Most of mine are 18.   In the past 3 plus years between wife, myself and business we had carry over balances 3 times.  Those were due to some H U G E expenses that I could not plan for and still paid off in 2 months.  The 21 APR is not one on their site.  Thats part of why quandry on it.  I know not all cards and offers are are not always on the website but still.  Last summer we got a bonus for upgrading a card status and still keeping the same card number.  So go figure.  I never understood that one but took their bonus.  I am more into the the rewards and a high enough limit l to keep utilization low without having pay every time I turn around.  Most cards now I pay every other week;  it is a simple spread sheet.
