FNBO CLI

I just called last week and asked if I was eligible for a sp... she said she would check for me,  and would know after putting in all my info, then she said I wasn't eligible and that if I wanted to continue it would be a hp.

6 months ago I received a 3k Increase via sp.

I am assuming the reason I didn't get the cli is because I didn't use the card at all since the last 3k Increase via sp.. Would anyone else agree ? When can I try again?

More likely, it is probably because they are in the process of converting their AMEX product over to Visa.

@SOGGIE Conversions don't necessarily impact account eligibility for CLI.  Plus, the OP didn't specify which FNBO account was in question.

Hi @Anonymous, welcome to the forums.

Eligibility depends on a lot of factors with FNBO including internal behavioral score.  While it's possible an account can be eligible with the usual cadence, there are situations in which it will not be eligible via SP.  The option is still available, but only if a HP is selected for review.

If you haven't used it in over 6 months, try cycling it for a couple months and see if that yields anything at some point.

Out of curiosity, what FNBO card is this and what is the current limit?

I had been getting 3k every 4+ months for a good while now. Then in March they said, "No soup for James!" It happens. My CL is now $25,000 so it could be that. My profile has been roughly the same for more than a year.

I'll call again this month and see if they've changed their mind. As Omar Little might say, "It's all in the game."

@Anonymous  FNBO is pretty straight forward with this, but nobody is guaranteed SP CLI's all the time. Pre-COVID it was a norm, but that's changed a lot (both in and out of FNBO). I can tell you that when I tried for a SP CLI and had not charged anything since the prior CLI approval, I was told I was not eligible. I charged a couple hundred that month, let the cycle close over and tried again that same month. Then I was "eligible" again and got another $5k.

For most of us, the SP CLI train stops at $25k and then they'll insist on a HP. Could be any number of things. Based on what you noted, use the card for some charges and let your cycle close. Then try again.

I have not heard anything about them fully converting to HP only CLI's, but anything is possible. Go get it!

I just got a 5k SP last month so the CLI train is still moving and awaiting more passengers.

Right.  Once an account reaches the $25K-$30K threshold, then it'll prompt for HP.  I've yet to see anyone that's taken it beyond that threshold with only SP.  I suppose if anyone wants to take the HP, it might be worthwhile 🤷‍♂️

Granted, if two same-network accounts are at $25K each, then best strategy is to combine them.  That's what I did with some of their legacy CCs.

I wouldn’t hold your breath, from what I’ve seen regarding FNBO, despite all the recent new card approvals and CLIs. You have an awesome credit limit and there doesn’t seem to be a good reason they would take it over 25K without substantially more usage and/or a hard pull. Even if you have substantial excess limits on Citi, Amex or BOA. Not the end of the world, but if you’re looking for some good SP CLIs, I believe Citi legacy or Amex is the way to go. Unless you have a banking relationship with BOA...
