I do not have a FNBO card. I do live in Omaha though.
My husband *had* their card. $1600 limit. His scores were in the high 700's. Never missed a payment a day in his life. Perfect credit report. Had a medical scare back in October and in mist of it missed 3 payments on 3 different cards. FNBO shut him down in a heartbeat! SLAMMED it shut so fast.
He continued to make payments on the account. A week ago he still owed $1000 on the card. I told him just to pay it off. Mails off a check. Called on Saturday to see if they credited it and wanted to see if he still owed a little bit so we could be done with them - low and behold it looks as though the account is back opened and with a credit line of $1700 now???? He said he was going to call them but I advised him to just sit tight for a month or so and see what happens.
Weird.
(Oh, I have lots of friends who work for them. Nothing but positive things. A good friend is even the buildings executive manager of the FNBO tower in Omaha - our only skyscrapper).

They could smell your optimism, and they didn't like it. True story. FNBO only gives out cards to those who truly feel that they're unworthy of such an honor.

I believe the inquiry denial only comes if they can access ARS/IDA. I have both of them frozen and have a lot of inquiries on Experian and Equifax and they didn't decline me when the approved me for two cards from the bureaus recently. I've had another card with them for more than two years, so that may make a difference. Although, I had a lot of inquiries when I applied for that card from a preapproval. They also aren't my highest limits, but there are reports of people getting approved by them with a higher limit than their other cards or matching their other cards.
I knew that FNBO was really conservative but I didn't realize they've trying to achieve that snooty level reserved for Simmmons Bank.....geez.
I applied for a card through FNBO the other day and was denied in less than 24 hours. My Experian FICO score is 722 and I do have 8 inquiries on there (9 now with theirs added). I have no baddies or anything, but I do have a few new accounts. I won’t know the reason they denied me until I receive the letter.
The problem that I have with Advanced Resolution Services (ARS), and the other “alternative” consumer reporting agencies, is how hidden they try to remain. I had never heard of ARS until last week when I received a letter from them stating that 9 lenders had requested my file from them. I tried to Google them and found nothing—no website, no contact information—nothing. Even the CFPB doesn’t list them in their list of consumer reporting agencies (found here - http://files.consumerfinance.gov/f/201501_cfpb_list-consumer-reporting-agencies.pdf )
I have a problem with agencies gathering my personal information and selling it to others without my knowledge, and without having easy access to view my file and check for accuracy. From the little bit I have learned about ARS from other boards is that they keep records indefinitely of EVERY application we make for Visa or MasterCard using the same SSN and address. As far as I know they do not remove inquiries after 2 years like Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion does. As far as I know they never remove them.
I understand that lenders have every right to access any information they can about us; we give them that right when we agree to submit our application. But the problem lies in the fact that no lender tells us that they used information from these “alternative” consumer reporting agencies to make their decision. I think it’s only right that if we are denied credit, that the issuer make the consumer aware of ALL the agencies that were used to gather information about us to make their decision (and they should give us the contact info for those agencies).

You forgot about the Woodman tower... LOL
FNBO is a bank you want to be patient with, but one you are in, you are pretty much in like flint. Their CS department is top notch & friendly just something us midwesterners pride ourselves in.

You might have done well to use this forums SEARCH feature for both APPROVALS & CREDIT CARDS before applying to FNBO.
They are notorious for denying on INQ's alone let alone new accounts etc. irregardless of healthy FICO scores.
I only had 8 INQ's last summer and they told me THAT was too many? They also pull ARS/IDS to weigh eligibility too.
Do their cards include like a free Hawaiian vacation and a 65" 4K flatscreen?
Only to provide further info, AA letter states "Excessice INQs" and an ARS score of 696.
Drafting a letter to request a copy and freeze both ARS & IDA
