FNBO Denial

I went on a credit spree last month and was pre-approved for 3800 with FNBO but they were unable to prove me due to:

*identifying information does not verify

Has anyone else had this before? I assumed I was denied for too many inquires from the spree since this was the second to the last that I applied for.

Re: FNBO Denial

I've had that problem with other financial institutions. I've no contact with FNBO.

In my case it's been related to different addresses I have. One report had not updated the 'current address' which I used on the application.

I imagine there are other situations that cause issues but off-hand I don't know of them, except for frozen or locked reports.

If FNBO has a reconsideration possibility then maybe a phone call or other communication can help.

Re: FNBO Denial

Yes, I received the exact denial message. But everything on my Experian is verified and exact as was on the app. I'm wondering if they are trying to pull secondary bureaus like SageStream, LexisNexis, etc which I have frozen.  Do you plan to call them?  I haven't been able to find a recon number for them and it's hard to get past customer service.

FNBO has been known to use third party resources besides traditional CRAs (i.e. Experian). So, if any of the others are frozen, the application can result in a denial in some cases.

Re: FNBO Denial

I unlocked Experian, TransUnion and Equifax for the app. But I have Lexisnexis, sagestream and other third party resources locked.

Re: FNBO Denial

I'm not interested now due to too many new cards in March. But I did the Preapproval with FNBO a couple months ago and was denied. Reason in the letter was "Lack of Sufficient Credit History" or some similar wording. Which is funny because I have 27 cards, a mix of bank, AmEx and store cards, 4 paid off installment loans and one active installment car loan, no baddies and scores all in the 730 range at that time 😳😂

I don't have anything frozen that I'm aware of. I'm going to attempt to call on Monday but I won't be heartbroken if they stand by the denial

@MCM1 That is likely the issue.

Keep in mind that FNBO reconsiderations are hit or miss and most often unsuccessful unless there is an error. However, when it comes to KYC and identity verification, unless you're unwilling to thaw the other reporting sources, then they are not obligated to proceed any further (i.e. internal policies). Perhaps they can provide an alternate method to verify you, and if it's deemed compliant, they can see about overturning the decision. However, in most cases, they will have you reapply after 30 days. And, yes, it will be another HP.

Re: FNBO Denial

What are the secondary bureaus they are using and that need to be unlocked as well?

Re: FNBO Denial

They do have a recon department. Call CS explain what your letter states. They will reference the application number, and address why identity does not match. They will pass info to their recon department. A 2nd decision on application will be mailed out.

Good luck
