Would most argue the website pre-qual is unreliable compared to the mailed invitation? I am wondering if most are solely relying on the website for pre-approval then being subsequently denied while the mailed invite may be more concrete.

For the most part, the targeted snail mail solicitations tend to be more solid. Although, not always 100% guaranteed since there has been a sprinkle of denials reported with the mailers as well. But, when compared to their latest product/online pre-qualification tool, I would definitely think the mailer is more reliable.
adding a datapoint for denial:
prequal for Evergreen Card w/ $14k limit last week, tried again on Saturday and prequal for $10k. Went for it. Got an update today that it was denied.
FICO 787- 802
AAoA- 3.2y
AoOA- 19y
AoYA- 4mo
INQ- 6 to 8?
UTL- <1%
TCL- 197k
New accounts- um, a lot. at least six in the last six months, including a FNBO mailer that was approved in January.
@FinStar Thanks for that DP, sorry just seeing your response. I think for now I will wait and see. My TU score may increase at the end of this month once all of my updates for May post.

Just a dp, I received a mailer for an SEIU credit card from FNBO last August and was denied. I received a pre-approval on the site last week and was approved.
"Was offered SL of $3800 and APR between 20-24%. App'd for the card and currently waiting 2-4 weeks for a response. Most recent Experian Fico was 693. BK filed in March of 2018. We shall see."
Finally got my denial letter from app back on 4/28, although they did email me within 24hrs letting me know I got denied.
We regret that we are unable to approve your application at this time for the following reasons: Excessive Credit Reporting Agency Inquiries.
Your Experian credit score is 673.
Experian INQs in last 24 months - 20. 10 in last 12 months. Quite high I know. This card was a want, not a need, so I'm sure the door will be open down the road when INQs fall off.
I received my nice green 2% card yesterday and activated it today. It took awhile, my Inquiry will be a month old tomorrow. It was a successful app in the end and that is all that matters.

Congrats on receiving your card!
I applied on the 27th, was approved on the 11th, and still haven't received mine yet 😅

You should get it soon. I was approved on the 11th as well. (Applied on 4/22/21)

@justjac2 wrote:So there's a new post in the giant pre-qualifier thread for fnbo, and since I have no self-control lately, went ahead and tried it. I was pre-qualified for $15K Evergreen Rewards card with 2% cashback. The app went under review, said I'll hear something in 2-4 weeks. I'm not holding my breath since I just got a card from them back in October, and have opened at least 6 new accounts since then (yes, I know). EX pull, 760 FICO 8, 14 inquiries now. I'll update when I get a decision.
ETA: here's the link to the post
I went to that pre qual site and was approved for 10K. I already have one of their cards that I got in Feb 2021 after getting a letter from them in the mail. Last week went to pre qual site was approved so like a dummy (should have known it was a trick) I wasted a hard pull by applying got the 3-5 day message then about 30 min later got the email that I was denied. So their pre qual site is hit or miss probably not worth a hard pull unless you just have one to waste.
