Fidelity offer with Bonus. Looking for Data Points.

Just received promo offer for Fidelity 2% cash back card with a $150 bonus (by spending $1000 in 90 Days). I do have a brokage accounts and IRA with Fidelity so this is temping to say the least. Below is example of on how I would plan to use the cash back (my monthly spending would be less, but you get the point).

While glad this offer had been extended to me, I'm not 100% confident that I would be a approved due to some baddies on my I CR, However, I read Elan pulls from TU, which is my best report in terms of score and history.

I have also read the card issuer Elan Financial Services can be a bear to deal with and their reviews online are all over the place, some 5 stars reviews and  1 star stars reviews for their customer service.

Anyone have any recent data points to share about this card and Elan Financial?

I don't have the Fidelity card, but I do have 3 Elan cards.  Their customer service has been fine for me.  I recently called in to product change one of my cards and the whole process took less than 2 minutes.  The rep I spoke with was knowledgable and was immediately able to help me.  I also requested via the website and got soft pull credit line increases on all 3 cards as well.  The only complaint I have is that my 3 cards each have their own login.  There is an option to combine cards under one set of login credentials, but the function hasn't been working for several months, at least not for me.

They pulled Transunion for me too.

I've had the card for a few years and not had any problems. The rewards have been easy to cash in, which i've directed to my CMA, and Elan seems generous with their SL's. CLI's up to 25k should be SP's when following the same criteria for increases as their parent US Bank (i.e. waiting 7 months from last increase, etc).

The card interface in browser or the app is fine, albeit a bit dated, but has been reliable when I check on points accumulation, history, making payments, and viewing statements. There is also a standalone Elan app you can get which is great for viewing the same info found in the Fidelity app, but just card info. (I use this when I'm not wanting to see red days in my face in the Fidelity app)

Re: Fidelity offer with Bonus. Looking for Data Points.

My wife and I both got this card in the last 8 months.  We both have some older negatives on our reports from about 5-6 years ago.

- My TU FICO 8 was 702 and I was approved for 13k.

- My wife's TU FICO 8 was temporarily down in the 685 range when she applied because of a new auto loan.  She was approved for 7k and Elan just gave her auto CLI  to 10k after 8 months.

IME, they've been known to access either TU or EX. It will depend once you decide to pull the trigger.

@lanemeyer

I logged in stating that I was going to pass on the offer, since everything I read on website besides MyFico said that they require Outstanding Credit for approval.

But your post disproves that, however the dates of my latest bad remarks are not as old, happening about 3 years ago.

Also, did you and your wife apply with a active offer from Fidelity/Elan? Or they you both apply on your own on accord.

Re: Fidelity offer with Bonus. Looking for Data Points.

We applied a few months apart but we both had active offers from Fidelity at the time we applied.  We had received multiple "pre-approved" mailers from Fidelity and followed the link in the mailer when we applied.

Re: Fidelity offer with Bonus. Looking for Data Points.

Elan is a division of US Bank.  I guess it manages all US Bank co-brand cards.  The Cash+ and Altitude cards are managed by US bank itself.

I think Elan is just fine, though not anything spectacular about it.  I only remember that Elan closed one of my old CC.  There is no way to re-open it after it was closed.

The Fidelity is an ok card.  It was probably the earliest and best card to give out 2% CB.   I use Citi DC card now.  Much better than Fidelity.  I remember there is a minimum amount that you can redeem for cash.
