Re: First Card... any advice?

I already went ahead and called.

I was denied, and... at this time, they can't do anything for me, until I have a longer credit history. Not even a $500 limit.

Should I call and bug the hell out of them? Smiley Wink

You already called?  What did you say?  The key is in your rebuttal to the questions asked.  I like your spirit.  You are going to call again but not tonight as they switch shifts.  If you call again today, you will probably get the same person.

What specifically did the analyst say?

Now here is the weird thing. If I call the Application Status, line... it says my application is still being reviewed.

I wonder? Smiley Wink

Re: First Card... any advice?

I called in. The lady, was very friendly but, short as well.

She said... that I don't have a long enough credit history (didn't mention any of it was AU) and that I should try applying again, whenever I feel like it's long enough. Part of me even wonders, if she looked at my report to begin with.

She sounds like she is done for the night.  Chase application line is weird like that that is why you have 30 days to get application removed.

They are open on Sundays also.  So if you want to try tomorrow morning, have at it.

When you call, you are going to say " I applied for the Chase Freedom and I wanted to see if there is further information needed to process my application (Don't ever tell them you called yesterday).  The analyst will put you on hold and come back with an answer.  If he'she said, it is denied you are not going to say thanks for your time and then hang up.  But instead you are going to say, before I get off the phone I'd like to explain myself for applying although you said it is denied.  Prior to applying, I did research and the Chase Freedom have been approved for people with less credit history than me.  I have seen limits from $500, $1,000 etc and I know with limits like that, Chase is just giving the applicant a chance to prove themselves.

I have 8 months of history.  Yes, I am only an authorized user on 2 cards but I'd also like a chance like my predecessors with $400, $1000 limits.  I'd also like to prove myself  and all I ask is a opporutnity to do that.. This is a passionate plea for reconsideration. Then wait and see what the analyst says.."

Remember, they are human beings also.

Now go to the Amex website and see if you are pre-qualified for any of their cards.

Re: First Card... any advice?

Well this is weird...

But, after I applied for Chase Freedom, suddenly Capital One's website, says I'm Pre-Approved.

MasterCard Platinum $0 Annual Fee & Capital One QuickSilverOne $39 Annual Fee, both for "average" credit.

Isin't that funny. Suddenly I'm good enough Smiley Tongue

Don't go for the platinum.  Keep in mind with CAP 1, there is a blurred line as to what they consider"excellent, fair and good credit".  I have seen people here with a 640 score getting approved for a $20,000 Venture card.  So I'd take that recommendation with a pinch of salt.

Let ask you a question.  Do you have any baddies at all?

Re: First Card... any advice?

None. No Baddies whatsoever.

Just a thin file, with only two accounts.
