I called into Capital One... Pending. Pending. But... the lady said, I should try calling in tomorrow afternoon, as they'd probably have information than
Chase... I'd settle for just getting approved for them, if I had to. But... honestly, I really, really do just want to start out, so I can get somewhere.
I do want to thank you though, Yes-Its-Me for all your advice, and information. It really does mean a lot to me. ![]()

@Anonymous,
You are welcome... Ok on CAP 1. Watch out for emails as well... As for Chase, it is all about how you recon. So be honest and tell them why they ought to give you a shot when you call.
Don't let your emotions get in the way when it comes to credit. Always have a strategy and a plan when applying. Do you research and figure out ways to come up with good rebuttals should your application go into pending and you have to call in.
Think like the credit card company. Play scenarios and come up with answers. So with a good profile and this strategy, you'd have an edge and come out a winner. It all depends on how bad you want it though.... So start with the Chase card.
I personally relish and love denials but then that is just me.
Any tips speaking with the Credit Reconsideration Line at Chase?
I just feel like, they don't want to hear anything I have to say. I've spoken to two different representatives, and both seem hasty to get off the phone. I just, I'm starting to wonder, if I really have a chance.
(On a another note, the 2nd lady... told me to check out "myfico.com".... so, that was interesting )
Anyhow. This time, I was told my application had been reviewed, and denied. However, the computer status line, still says my application is being reviewed. So who knows.
Capital One wants me to call back Tuesday afternoon, but... "application specialist" seemed sure, I'd get approved.
It's still in "Pending status"... so, I'm hoping that's good.
Same situation as yours. AU on 2 cards, along with same credit score. Last month it was my 18th birthday, check sig for which cards I got ![]()
Yeah I'm willing to bet that cap 1 card will be approved. I applied for the platinum last year a few months after I turned 18 and got a measly $300 SL but hey it was something and they were the first to give me a chance so I respect them for that and always will. I was also in the credit steps program and when it was time for an increase my CL went from $300 to $2300
So like others have said on here, this credit game is a marathon so just take your time once you're approved to establish good credit history with lenders.

I gave you tips on what to say on the 2nd page of this thread.... I hope you are reading your own thread.. Hehehehe
..
Thought, I'd update you guys.
I was approved, for Capital One @ $1,000 (Platinum Mastercard) & Capital One Journey @ $1,000. I *read* somewhere on here, to apply for two at once, and it'd be the same hard pull. So, in 6 months, I'll have two well established lines. And I'll have a CLI (Credit Steps) probably to $1,500 or $2,000 on both.
Chase, I received a letter today, saying I wasn't approved due to "Not enough accounts opened long enough to establish a credit history". Although, the letter says they only checked Equifax, so... I may only have 2 HP's on EQ, 1 On EXP, and 1 on TU. ![]()
(I really did try to convince, Chase, but I could just tell the Reps didn't care. Which sucks, but, maybe I'll try again later
)
Anyhow. I wanted to say Thank you to everyone, for your advice. I think I'm going to garden for a while, and see what happens
Here's the best part. I just checked for "pre-qualified" offers on Chase.com, and I'm pre-approved for Chase Slate, Chase Freedom & Chase Sapphire.
Isin't that nice. Maybe I should try calling again.
