First app spree - should I recon Marvel?

Hey everyone! I just got the last of my collections dropped and I have a clean report for the first time in years. So excited! I maybe should have waited a little longer to app and get my util down, but I was too excited to resist and my trigger finger got itchy. This is where I started:

FICO 8s: 777 TU, 764 EQ, 765 EX

CapOne secured: $155/$500

Chase Sapphire (AU): $840/$4200

No baddies, 1 inq on EQ

This is what I got:

Discover IT: $2750

AMEX BCE: $2000

Chase Freedom Unlimited: $1500

Synchrony Marvel: $500

Now I'm totally good with growing those 1k+ limits over time, but the Marvel seems low even with my thin file. Especially considering they were the only ones that pulled TU and that's my best score. Is it worth trying to recon the SL or should I just be patient and wait out a few statements and then go for a cli? Thanks!

You can contact the Credit Solutions backdoor number, but it's doubtful they will yield any CLI on your SL. It appears your profile barely made the cut.

Just wait things out and let your profile age. Once your profile is more optimal then the odds of a CLI can improve.

Re: First app spree - should I recon Marvel?

Hi OP

I remember when I did my first 4-card spree. My DiscoIT started at $3.5K, then the Chase FU was 2.5K, CitiDC was $2.3K, and the CitiCostco $2K. Like you, as I kept going, the CLs kept decreasing.

However, with age, low UT, and excellent payment history, the cards will grow.

Congratulations on getting your credit profile in great shape and on your successful CC spree.

|| AmX Cash Magnet $40.5K || NFCU CashRewards $30K || Discover IT $24.7K || Macys $24.2K || NFCU CLOC $15K || NFCU Platinum $15K || CitiCostco $12.7K || Chase FU $12.7K || Apple Card $7K || BOA CashRewards $6K

If your file is thin, those are amazing approvals. All cards have Excellent growth potential. Synchrony doesnt do recon but give it 3 months you most likely will get auto increase if you use your card then you can call up Credit Solutions. Well done and enjoySmiley Happy

Re: First app spree - should I recon Marvel?

OP, congrats on your spree!  Have you received the Marvel card and activated it?  If not, the 500 SL might be a temporary limit.

When I applied for this card back in 2016, I was given a $1K limit and that was very low for my profile.  For example, the week prior, I was approved for a $17K Merrill+ Visa.  I found out that my actual SL was $8K.  I believe the true limit kicked in after I activated the card.  So, if you haven't received the card and activated it, you might already have a higher SL.

I wouldn't worry too much about the SL. If it stays at $500, with your TU score, you're likely to have it at $10,000 within 6 months.

Sync loves to give CLIs after 4-5 months if your TU is over 720.

Congratulations! Frequent use and payment of the cards allow for automatic increases from time to time ( usually 6 months ). You'll be up there before you know it

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back here but I just wanted to give a little update: I received my Marvel card, activated it, and found a $2000 limit instead of the $500 they originally told me.  I'm stoked.  Thanks everybody!  Smiley Very Happy
