@Anonymous wrote:Well I called Wells Fargo yesterday to try and get my CC with them bumped up to 5k. Guy on the phone was super helpful in answering questions and put in my request, saying I'll get a letter in the mail with my decision
Checked into my account today and the CLI was approved! Now at 5k. With this in mind, should I go ahead and apply for the CSP card (will the limit increase show up on credit reports instantly? or do they take a while)? The Discover it card seems good as well, but I'd really like to have a travel card in my hands
In reference to the income: 18k is what I'm making this year from my salary, the 9k is what my internship company gave me for relocation and the other money is used to pay for tuition.
Ok so your base income is at $18k, the $9k is a one time deal from what I understand. So the other money is also "income"? but used for tuition. Kind of a stickler here since verifiable income would be the $18k. I personally would only put what I can verify either via pay stub or tax return but to each it's own.
How long ago was your app, there are a multitude of people who got a denied screen, then when called to recon, they are told that they were approved, or if they didnt call they simply received the card 4 or 5 days later. Something is up with the site, so if it was a week or more ago, ok, but if not give them a call
It wasn't a denied screen, I had to call their number. The guy on the end of the line didn't ask me any questions, just said I was denied and a letter would be mailed to me explaining why. Would it still be worth reconning?
Otherwise, I'm considering getting the Chase Freedom right now, and applying for the SPC when my 5k WF limit shows up on a report. Would this be a good plan? (it seems like I'd have a shot at the Venture too, I prequalified for it as well)

Chase may tell you that the $5k is relatively too new and they'd like to se you with some history being able to handle the new limit. I say go for the Venture card if you are pre-qual for that.
Do they only care about the $5k for the Sapphire Preferred Card? I was going to wait on that for a while
I checked the Chase Pre-qual website and it's prequalified me for the Freedom first, then the Slate, and Sapphire Preferred. How reliable is the prequal on them?
I'm hesitant to apply for the Venture because I've heard of them slamming people with 3 hard checks to their credit
Chase's pre-qual is pretty solid. Go ahead and app for the Freedom (do it quick because I believe their $200 cashback bonus ends very soon). As for Capital One, yes they will hit you with 3 hard pulls (one from each bureau) but the high credit limit and great card (Venture) make it worth it). But I'd do Chase first.

If you are prequalified then I say go for it. Keep in mind that prequalifed doesn't always mean approval. People have been denied in the past. Only way to know for sure is to apply.
Wow
Applied and was accepted for a CL of $10k!
Would it be worth applying for the CSP now? I've heard they combine credit pulls if they're done in the same day
Congrats! You can try for the CSP, but being so new to Chase they may deny you until they see how you handle the card they just approved you for. That's what happened to me when I tried for 2 Chase cards close together, but YMMV.
I said screw it, applied and got accepted for a $16.3k credit line! (no way I'll use all of that but whatever)
The Freedom I was pretty confident about, but this one's a pleasant surprise! It's going to be exciting to use them now
Thanks for the help everyone! And I'll report back on whether or not they pulled for each card or just one
