Getting an additional AMEX card

I just got approved for an AMEX Delta gold 2 days ago. If I apply for the regular AMEX gold, is it a HP only if I'm approved? Like if I'm denied is it just a SP?

I believe that all AMEX applications are HP's regardless of when they're done or if they're approved/denied. Bank on it being an HP just to be safe. 

Additionally, what were your data points when you were approved for the Delta gold? Wife and I are interested in that card and I'm wondering what her approval odds would be. Would you mind posting your FICO's and some info about inquiries, AAoA, UTL, dergos, etc?

Incorrect. Not all Amex applications are hp. Some members are able to get 2 for one hp. Alot of factors to consider but it is possible. Lots of data points here on the forum concerning this. Expect a hp is good advice be happy when you dont get one

Ah, I stand corrected then! Thank you, I was unaware that combining HP's was possible.

I wonder if this varies for people.  I haven't received an HP since the first two amex cards I picked up.  The last 3, I didn't see anything on my report.

I did what you did. Delta Gold (10k) with mid to high 600 EX FICOs. Then I went for Gold PRG. No additional inquiry. I did that two years ago. I have since applied/closed 4 or 5 total cards with them without an additional HP. Mid 700s, they gave me 2300 on the ED Card haha.

February 2017 I was approved for  the Everyday Card with an HP. April 2017 I was approved for the PRG with no HP.

applied and approved for Blue Cash Everyday on 4/20, applied and approved for Gold Delta Skymiles on 4/25, both pulled from Experian

Applied and was approved 4/19 for ED, applied and approved 4/20 for BCE, both HP from EX. After I was approved for both cards, I read somewhere on this forum that doing both apps same day may have resulted in only 1 HP.
