So I have been prequalified for a Gold Delta for a while now, showing 16.99 APR plus 50K bonus offer. I have the 60K offer through my email.
First off, this is a card I would love to have - I fly delta twice a year at the least and I want to get my foot in the door with Amex.
My scores in my sig are current and I am expected a boost in March to 709 EQ, 699 TU, and 692 EX (per myFico Simulator - it has proven to be accurate so far but YMMV). I've already boosted my score about 60 points in the last 3 months (started around 615 in Nov.) so I really am proud that one of my scores should reach over 700 in another month.
So my question is, with the prequal and the new March scores listed above, how solid is an approval?
Since I am looking forward to a March App, my stats *should be*:
2.6 AAoA
709 EQ, 699 TU, 692 EX
3 INQs on Experian (which Amex will pull for me based on a past denial)
52% UTI (including AU accounts) or 60% not including AU accounts - I am never sure how this actually works.
No missed payments, collections, etc - nothing derogatory.
I am well aware that my utilization would hurt me the most, but this card seems to be fairly easy to get approved for so I thought I would throw it out there for opinions/other experiences.
Thanks in advance!
Hi there! I was approved for the Delta Gold with EX of 614 and have old derogatory marks not due to fall of my reports until 2019. I'm not an oracle or anything but you seem to be in a good position. It never hurts to lower your ulilization, though. Good luck.
The lending standards for the Delta cards and a few others seem to be alot lower than they used to be. I've seen apps get approved anywhere from 610-645. (i'm in that group) Now at the lower scores get approved, but most only get the 1k SL which seems to be the your just barely good enough to get it. With what you have, you should be able to get in and be elig for the 3x at 60+ days, that most with 640 or less do not.

I think with your scores and accounts you should be able to get approved. Get your foot in the door. Hard to say what limit. But it would be easier approval for sure if you get that utilization down first. AAoA is low but should be enough. Of course scores would go higher too with lower utilization.
I got in with Amex with the scores shown in my signature. I do have 1 30 day late from 2.5 years ago and my AAoA is 1.9 years. I was approved for a $5,000 SL but, it does seem that people i've seen posting their approval with the same data points or relatively close only get a $1,000 SL.
Best of Luck!!!

I've read that if your a pre-qual shows a fixed rate... there is a pretty solid approval chance. I'm not sure about pre-qual vs pre-approvals.
I had a pre-approvedl offer, fixed 16.99% rate, mixed in with my Amex BCE customer offers section. My GoldDelta was approved for $10k, at 16.99%. I'm not sure which scores they used higher in November, or lower December scores after new truck loan hit the reports.
Nov... EX 727 EQ 730 TU 724 Dec.... EQ 717 EX 715 TU 715
btw... Scores rebounded from truck loan in January, even better now/February. The loan is definitely good for my scores... I had doubted that bit of FICO wisdom.
