I am now officially a NFCU Member!!! 👍


I just found out that I can gain membership to NFCU thru my mother-in-law - who will sponsor DW - who will sponsor MEeeeeeeee!!!! 👍👍👍

I’ve read and read AND READ COUNTLESS threads on NFCU from members who’ve benefited from this Wonderful CU!! To be honest - I was jealous!! 😞 Not anymore tho🤣

I’m excited and nervous!

I have a couple of things to take care of on my CR’s before I decide to app for anything. I’m not sure which card I will app for when I’m ready? Cash Rewards or More Rewards?? Hoping I can get my scores up by around May/June to get approved with a decent SL?

Any advice or thoughts on approval with current DP’s as far as CO’s are concerned when it comes to approvals??

1.) 1 old collection🙄 that popped up on EX and EQ(TU 0) “Commonwealth” - they delete so, I’ll take care of that soon before I app.

2.) 3 CO’s
1 CO(First Progress/PAID 2/2018)
2 repo CO’s(4.5 yrs old)

Should be collection free, AGAIN by Dec🙄

Any strategy pointers, hints, tricks, I would need to be approved when the time comes other than AZEO? Thanks😉

I REALLY need to get that CA off my reports before I do any app’g. Although, I’ve read they pull TU for CC apps and I have 0 collections on it.

I’m looking to replace Cap1 Secured(&99=$500CL), QS1(will be $500 credit steps), Fingerhut($500), and Merrick(will be $1400) as these are serving their purpose for now.
I probably won’t ax anything until I get my 2nd NFCU card....this way I make sure I’m solid with NFCU first and I’m sitting at a second card with a decent limit...although, MMWV(?) so we’ll see then.
Once I get approved for NFCU card I’ll probably drop fingerhut and Cap1 Secured?

Way to go ! You will be ecstatic with Navy for sure They will treat you right so take care of them, no need to rush things. Ive taken an insane amount of hps from them in all my greed lol so here is my lesson to you. Use your hps with them cautiously and only when you truely want something you really need. If you treat your card(s) right you can eventually achieve suto luv, apr reductions, and just a great overall experience. Also remember money in ssvings/checking accounts will bear no weight on credit decisions.

My advice is don't app for the card you really want, first. It'll be a slow grower. If the More Rewards Amex is the one you want the most, make it your second card.

Thanks for the reply. Absolutely NFCU will be my top-dawgs. I definitely will not rush-per your advice😉- they’ll only be a membership approval thread and ONLY when the time is right I’ll app for a card.
