So I opened my mail and I was astonished! A Amex pre-aproval!! I'm happy, even if it's for the green card it's a pre-approval from Amex! Now I'm not going to bite.. even thoughit isn't a gaurntee it feels good! I have $2400 dropping off in debt that will bring me down to about 7% ult overall! I'm thinking maybe 8 months in the garden and see where I am at before getting any more because I was the blue cash..
Now questions, does Amex accept latest after a certain age, or is it varies by person?
Also, how should I look with a AAOA?
One last question, score range?
Now like I said it varies person to person but I want to make sure I might have a chance of getting in with Amex before mid 2017 when my final latest drop!
Thanks guy fo advice!
AmEx comes down to how your file look. Though my limit is a petty $500, I got in the door with AmEx April 2015.
- 10 Negative Indicators, 8 Collections, Scores were 638,630,637.
Do note that even with all the bads, I only had 3 credit cards to my name. 3 Capital One cards opened in 2007, 2011, and 2014. So I had a thin credit file. I have 2-30 day and 1 60day late on my 2011 Cap One From 2009/2010 and a single 30day late on my 2011 Cap One from June 2013. My AAoA then was 5 years, 11 months. Oldest account as of that application was 9 years and 7 months.
Everything varies by person and credit file, but I'm thinking you'll have an excellent shot at whatever you want from AmEx ![]()
I think that you are looking good. If they are sending you offers that is the first step... I think when I got my PRG and Delta card I was in the 660's and when I got my ED card I was in the 690's. So if your already over 700 you should be fine.

Amex charge cards are pretty easy to get, but (a) they don't get you "in" with Amex and (b) they're pretty useless in my opinion.
The easiest Amex credit card to get is reputed to be the Delta Gold, which I got, but found pretty useless too.
The cards I would really value are the blue cash and the business simply cash, but I've been repeatedly turned down for them, with scores in the low 700's.

Congrats on your first pre-approval
Green card pre-approvals are pretty solid so continue with your plan and you should see more offers
Just don't settle for what they send find the card that you want and either wait on a pre-approval or app
But yes looks like you're in the Amex system now
Score wise hard to say what's needed w/o knowing what card you're interested in and your complete profile
Charge card 650 range
BCE,BCP,ED, EDP 700 range
And yes varies by person
AAoA never heard anyone get denied due to it.....short history yes not yet proven credit wise
I got the Delta with a 648 score, 7 baddies, 76 inquiries (yes, but they are multiple from the same company like Amex (22), Cap One (12) and Kabbage (16)), 1 collection and 4% util with about 15k in open TLs. I wanted the card because I fly Delta religiously so it adds up for me. It is my in card with Amex.
