HSBC Denial DP 02/29/2020

I just received a denial letter from my prequalify attempt for an HSBC card. It shows that they pulled a score with range 150-950, so not FICO 08.

It also shows they denied me because of "Date of last inquiry too recent". The paperwork says they obtained my score on 02/29/2020, and my most recent HP on EQ was 01/18/2020.20200307_193302x.jpg

Edited: Tweaked opening content and added a bit of text context, as this was moved to it's own thread.

PS: The required labels for this group are not always relevant.

2017-09-09 FICO 08: EQ 677, TU 640, EX 705
2020-02-07 FICO 08: TU 789
2020-02-10 FICO 08: EX 752

Gardening, mostly, again until... soon(I need to replace my car)

@Ardecko I moved your post here to get better responses about HSBC denial data points.

Re: HSBC Denial DP wanted

That was just one reason.

They denied for delinquent account. Do you have negatives?

Your file is thin and not  a lot of payment history .

Re: HSBC Denial DP wanted

They use a different FICO bankcard score (I think 3, but I'm not sure)

Current open cards:
Schwab Amex Platinum (NPSL); Amex Gold (NPSL); HH Aspire ($31,700); Amex BBP ($27,000); HSBC Premier WMC ($21,500); USB Altitude Reserve ($20,000); USB Altitude Reserve ($10,000); WF Bilt MC ($9,400); Chase Freedom ($7,300), BofA Premium Rewards ($5,000); Apple Card ($4,750); BofA Alaska Visa ($4,200); USB Altitude Go ($1,000)

Started collecting cards: Oct/2018

Did you use their pre-qual page? Curious to know if it's just marketing like BofA

Re: HSBC Denial DP wanted

@Ardecko

Thank you for sharing! So the question is how soon after the last EQ hard pull is not too recent. I'd like to know that too.
Good thing that it was Pre-qual for you, not a real app with hard pull. And they even sent a letter! I am surprised.
I applied in December - got approved in Pre-qual, but there was an error in my app and I canceled it, they asked me to reapply - and I am glad I did it, they would deny me probably for no credit history. And now I have recent inquiry on EQ from local CU.

Your score shows as 784 in their scoring: can you please share what is your Fico8 EQ? I try to figure out what mine would be in their scoring...

I also have a funny issue now. I opened a checking account with them, hoping that it would help me when I will reapply. So when I was "New to HSBC" I could pre-qualify and actually submit my application. But now as I click on apply for "Existing HSBC customer" - I only get "Visit a branch". I can not even apply online. I am a Premier account holder and the nearest branch is 10 hours of driving away from me. Don't even know what to think about this situation. May be somebody will give me advice here.

But if it would be marketing it would show "Approved" or "pre-qualified" like BofA always shows for me (stupid BofA thing costed me an EX hard pull and denial!) No I think HSBC is more real in their Pre-qual. They even sent a letter with the reason for denial.
