Re: Have you stopped asking for CLIs?

I want to grow my Samsclub, use it aggressively the next time a big ticket TV goes deferred financing and hopefully conversion train stops for me. Tjx seems to be a quick upgrade anecdotally and I wouldn't mind that one so I'm using that one monthly for odds and ends.

I've actually experienced two AA decreases, so I need to get my home repairs paid off and when UTIL back in the teens, I'm going to hit them up to get them restored. If they say no that's not a big deal because my scores go up from it anyway to be in better position to get some of the coveted cardBCP for example

Re: Have you stopped asking for CLIs?

$5,000 for Store Cards, $10,000 for MC/Visa/Amex/Discover Store Cards. $5,000 for any bank cards and $10,000 for the credit union that I do 100% of my banking/loans/etc through. With Synchrony it's easy to get $5,000 on the store cards and slightly harder for $10,000 on some of the branded cards but I'm getting there. I am definitely glad to have the limits I do have in case of any dire emergencies that pop up with moving/car repair/home repair etc. Tons of available cash if I need it with 0% BT offers as well.

Life is good. At some point I'll stop asking for CLIs. Probably when I pay down all my balances and stop trying to lower utilization with more credit card approvals with high limits lol. It's a terrible habit.

Re: Have you stopped asking for CLIs?

My plan is to grow my MC/Visa's to about 25K and slowly trim my store card limits back to $500 until they hit 1 year old and auto-close.

Re: Have you stopped asking for CLIs?

While I'm probably not finished requesting them in the future I won't be anytime soon. I've seen a few people post recently about CLD or even AA on accounts because they have too much credit available. YMMV but if it happens to a couple people it could happen to any of us. I just am not the type of person to bring attention to myself in any regards but especially when it pertains to my finances and credit.

I most likely will request a CLI on a couple cards next year. Nothing for the rest of FY16.

Re: Have you stopped asking for CLIs?

Nope not yet. lol

I still have a couple of cards I want to grow and a few to close out. I'll be asking Capital one for another increase on one of my Ventures before consolidating. I'll do the same for my Amex BCP. Both are hitting that 6 months since last CLI this month. I'll ask USAA for another CLI. Still 3 to 6 months off, but Citi DC and Barclays are going on the chopping block, along with a few others.

I'm not sweating the CLD's. Barclay can CLD me any time they like..lol. I'm going to CLD them any way.

Wish Blispay was giving CLI's or I'd be hitting them up in 6 months for one as well. I have big plans for this card and need a larger limit. I've already pre-paid the power bill out for the rest of the year with this one. Using this card in conjunction with a Rewards Checking account can yield a 4% to 7% return on purchases over $199. If you know how to work it.Smiley Wink

After this year hopefully the dust will settle.

Re: Have you stopped asking for CLIs?

Not yet. In my excel spreadsheet, I have the max Credit Lines I wish to obtain for each card. They're all reasonable amounts that won't have my overall CLs too high, but won't hurt me when I use the card. Only really hunting BIG CLs on my heavily used cards (BCP, SPG and Discover when 5% is on gas). I'll be glad when I get to the point of not needing CLIs.

The hunt for CLIs is addicting and the wait for them is never racking Smiley LOL

Re: Have you stopped asking for CLIs?

Yes, no more asking for CLI. I wasn't big on that anyway, I have a very modest income. I do wish my barclay rewards and sallie mae limits were a bit higher though because I seem to use about 35-50% spend each month. The CL on those 2 are only $2500. Plus a HP, not going to do that. Nonetheless, very happy with all my cards and limits.
