My main goal is being able to use my cards for normal spending plus some extra once in awhile and not putting a dent in my utilization. I've pretty much reached that point. Just want to have a couple of cards to grow a little more.
Within reason I am more than content wtih my CL's. My Citi Prestige is at 17K and I would like to bump that to 25K-30K. If I can get that then I'm literally done and will be gardening for a very long time (although I am being patient with Citi and hoping I can get the increase with a SP).
I had to stop asking for CLIs...2 of my 5 cards are at their caps, my secure card can't grow, and I don't want a HP to increase my Freedom or Ring cards. So I'm going to sit and wait. I assume my next card will be Chase FU or SP but I have to wait until I find a new home first.
I've intended to ask for a couple CLI's for a couple years, but always planned on doing it at the same time as apping for a new card to minimize my HP. Problem is I haven't apped for anything. They would have already fallen off if I would have just done it!
I've stopped for the most part. Maybe on my new Flagship, just because they started it so low but really even that card is more then enough for my spend. There are some low limit cards that I have that sometimes I feel like I want to grow but truth be told they never make it out of the SD. Most of my spend goes on my PRG and for that card it does not matter since it's NPSL.
I garden by nature. I've stopped taking hards for clis right now. So that leaves me with my Amex and my Cap 1 to try and soft increase. I've pushed the Amex to north of 25 k with no 4506-t so I'm done with that one. Now all I do is attempt a cli with Cap 1 every 6 months.
I'm about 50/50. Done requesting with AmEx revolvers, REI, and Discover.
Still requesting with Capital One because it's SP.
Haven't ever asked with Chase or Citi (currently still requiring HP). When I leave garden later this year, will likely request CLI via HP to try to get to 5-figure CLs (though unlikely with Chase).
Before I joined this forum, I didn't know credit limit increases were even possible! I've never asked for one, but at some point I'd like to ask for an increase on my Chase Amazon card, since Amazon typically has the best price on some rather expensive items that I might want some day.
