Hello Everyone!! I am new to posting, I have been looking around on the forums for about 6 months now everyday, usually around 10 times a day! I have started a new credit journey just in the past few months and have been trying to get as much information as i could before actually applying. I had found 7 medical bills on my report that were incorrect, so i disputed them recently and had a few removed and the others are still pending. A care credit account 3 years ago that was positive and paid off with only one month late. SO i was so afraid to apply because the fear of denial with all these cards. until today, I applied for a capital one platinum card, literally biting my fingernails with my eyes closed while it processed. opened my eyes to a "unfortunatly we are unable to approve you letter with a 7-10 day reply"
I am sure this question has been asked 100,000 times before me, but I have searched the forum and i am still unclear what to do next. I have called two seperate numbers first was csr that went nowhere and then an account specialist that basically told me to reprocess with another hard pull. I have heard of people using the EO for this, but i would like to know if this is a valid reason for using them. I just do not want to call or email and mess up those outlets for other people. Can someone please help me with this??!! I have already had a hard pull and i just do not want it to be a waste. I am hoping I can have the same luck as other people on the forum and have a denial turned into an approval. thanks so much for reading and God bless.
I would wait to see what the reasons are before you recon.
I recieved an email from them saying it was because of collections on account and not enough accounts. The number of accounts i have disputed and resolved a few so far. and the number of accounts is that I zero as of right now. thats why I picked to apply at capital one.I read thousands of posts that stated how capital one actually gave them a shot and were a good starting company. my fico scores are 580 to 605
If you have no cards now, with your scores and profile, you should look at secured cards.
With not much of a credit history, no card and some collections on your report, they may not give you an unsecured card. I know you said that the collections are wrong and you are resolving them, but this might scare them. In their eye's, you basically have no credit history and have already defaulted. Maybe wait until the collections are resolved and reapply. I am not sure about cap1 recon process. Did you check their pre-qual before apping?
I did check the pre qualify and it said the cards recommended were platinum and the quicksilver
And also Futcrna, This is totally off subject, but I just saw your username and want to congratulate you on your chosen career path.Nurse anesthetists is a wonderful choice and a hard one. so im glad your taking that route. Not many people do and miss out on a great career. I was planning on going that route but chose to continue my studies for MD.
1-work on removing collection and pay for deletion if necessary
2-Try Credit One and First Premier
3-Start with small secured card
4-Use a smal amount and pay in full and wait 6 months-1 year
5-Monitor Credit and score when you get above 640 then you can re-apply

Thanks it is going to be well worth it in the end. I was going to be an anestheologist, but I liked the nursing aspect so much more.
your welcome!! it really is a awesome and rewarding medical field... i know some people who have done it and they wouldnt change anything.... pertaining to the first premier card and credit one, ive read horrible reviews are you sure those are worth it, or should i just try higher up EO method for the capital one??
