I see you had a USAA account.

Are you a member of NFCU? If not, have you considered becomg a member?

Yes, USAA is now in my review mirror.

NFCU: I am not a member. I am hoping that I could join and build a long mutual benificial relationship with them. I am not sure how they will respond to my credit history. I am rebuilding and on the right track, but not sure if I am up to their standards. I recently joined another credit union back in december of 2020 and they treated me like dirt because of my credit issues. I told them I am rebuilding and will pay all collection accounts within 45 days other than EOSA and USAA due to unethical business practices. So I have kept my side of the bargin and they are still the same. So I need a credit union that will work with me and watch me grow and be apart of that.

I hope my application will be accepted by NFCU. Do you have any suggestions about them and how I can approach building a good history with them with my current credit situation?

Thanks for your help.

I'd recommend joining for membership now. It should be a SP Soft Pull inquiry for membership. Let your membership marinate until your reports have cleaned up a bit before seeking credit products.

I am now officially a member of NFCU Wooo Hooo! Verified, they did a SP for new members.

To enhance your membership, you can try having your employment DD Direct Deposit go through NFCU. They also allow 1 day early DD.

That will be done in the very near future.

NFCU also has one of the best secured card out there, nRewards. It usually graduates around 7-8 months, IIRC.

I checked into their secure card, I did a prequal by phone. They said I prequall for all of their cards. SP on TU.

good progess on your CO's and PFD's

i would seriously think about addressing this one - 2.5 years is a long time to have this one on your plate

  1. USAA Charge Off $17,000 remain on credit 7/2023 WILL LET AGE OFF

you could start a payment plan with them, or get a personal loan, so it will be done with once and for all

good luck to you

Yes, all of my collections were removed, before I got those cards. I did have Credit One that had a zero balance and was a listed as a charge-off I believe (this got removed recently and lowered my score by 3 points, due to AAOC). I currently still have Santander as a charge off, but settled.

Wow, that is great work, I am personally having a hard time getting my old collections removed. One out of the 7 has been taken off my cra's, and that is with a PFD. I did three PFD, but only one has come off so far. I paid a fourth one, but they will not take off just update records. 5th collection will age off this summer. 6th collection is a pain to deal with NCS, I cant get them to budge or discount collections. They did say they will do PFD, however I just found out that they may not have the right to collect because the orginal creditor is out of business.. 7th one will age off in about 2 years 4 months.

I wish I could do that, I have a lot of work before someone will give me a $17,000 loan. I would love to address it, an you are right that is a long time. Thank you for the good luck.

Re: Help with new credit card applications and the possibility of getting approved Update!

Let the PFDs update on your reports first. Once everything has updated, PFD or paid to $0, then hit the Disco and CapOne prequals and see what they say. Don't do it until the updates are done though - often those prequal SPs are held for a period of time before a new one would be pulled. You don't want them doing it based off of older reports that don't show your improvements.

I will follow your format when I begin to apply. I am more like 60 days out still. I will post and update when I begin applying for new cc's.

Update. I tried the prequal by phone, they told me I prequal for every card. So I asked a few questions about how they choose to approve and I think I asked the wrong question imo. However after the silence, she asked If I wanted to apply for one of the cards and I said yes. I apped for the cashrewards card, she said well lets checkout the response, she said you are a new cash reward member with a 3K SL. I was like great. They asked if I wanted the card the next day, and I opt out just send regular mail.

First Unsecure Card. My Fico at the time of app was TU 657. I got the approval email shortly after phone exit with a 12.99 % APR.
